"I can’t thank Restoration Rescue enough for their help. My neighbor’s tree had fallen on my roof, Storms came rolling in not too long after & I woke up to rain pouring into my home. After arguing with the insurance companies for a good week or so, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer. I contacted Restoration Rescue & Kenny Barrett came out quickly, assessed the damage, & got his crew to begin water mitigation—SAME DAY Y’ALL!! This company is professional, kind, & incredibly thorough — they explained everything clearly to me & made sure my home was properly dried out. What could have been a total mold disaster turned into a manageable situation because of the quick response & expertise of these guys. I truly appreciate the hard work & compassion given to me during this really stressful time. I 100% recommend them to anyone who needs water damage restoration or emergency help after a storm. They will also be doing the remaining repairs on my home, best decision I’ve ever made!!!"

"It went amazing. They always call when they’re on the way, and the staff is so easy and accommodating to my schedule. When came out, they showed me what colors would best work for my color scheme and did test spot so I could show my husband. We decided on a color and again they came out, moved my furniture accordingly and did a great job! I would highly recommend them!"

"After the 100+ temperature week we had in San Antonio, our AC struggling to cool, so we finally gave in and decided to make a call for insulation. We could feel the heat in the walls form the sun, so we spoke to Manuel at Insulation Works asking for a quote for wall insulation. He explained that while he could install insulation in the walls, it was likely not the problem, he suspected it was really our attic that needed insulation. He came to our home and gave us a quote for the walls and the attic. The attic had 2-4 inches of insulation while CPA recommends 13.5 inches. Our attic definitely needed some attention too. He explained how the walls cost much more to insulate but he really thinks we could get the best value just doing the attic which will not only cost less but would also cool the entire house, not just the rooms we added the wall insulation to. He explained how if we got attic insulation, we may not even want wall insulation, so he recommended we wait on the walls, and he could come back later if we decided we still wanted them done. The team, Manuel and Mari, came over and got to work within 2 days. They were both so very nice, friendly and professional. They wrapped my furniture and the floors to protect it from any dust or damage. They even brought corner protectors to protect my walls from any potential damage. They had all the professional machinery and tools needed to get the attic done quickly and correctly. In the end I had 17-18 inches of insulation in my attic. They quickly cleaned up and even vacuumed although there was not much of any mess I could even see. The team worked with me on filling out the rebate from CPS and even worked it out from our estimate. We didn't even know there was a rebate available. It felt like we were dealing with family even though we didn't know them before we made that call. We immediately felt a difference in the house and now that it's the day after it's amazing how much cooler the house is, and my AC is not having to work so hard. I don't even feel like the walls needed to be insulated anymore! He was right! There are so many companies that would have jumped at the chance to just charge me for the walls and attic, but Manuel was so honest it really blew us away. If we decide later, we want to add insulation to the walls we know exactly who we will be calling. If anyone needs any insulation work done, we definitely recommend Insulation Works!"

"I have had my new equipment a little over a month now. I have not had any issues at this point. Dale & his assistant arrived in a timely manner. They came in did their job, stopping to answer any questions I had. At completion of work, Dale went over everything with me as he tested equipment to show that it worked properly. They cleaned up before leaving, They also finished earlier than predicted. Shannon is the person I always spoke with on the phone during the process. Let me tell you, this lady was so kind, patient & professional and very appreciated. Thank you all."

Mold Testing and Remediation FAQs, answered by experts

Excessive humidity in a room often manifests through visible signs like condensation on windows or walls, a musty or damp odor lingering in the air, peeling wallpaper or paint, and the presence of mold or mildew. Experiencing discomfort due to a consistently clammy or sticky feeling can also indicate high humidity levels.

Checking for mold yourself is crucial, as catching mold in the early stages is ideal. Mold can appear green, brown, black, blue, or yellow. It can smell musty and can feel like velvet, leather, or cotton.

Most often, mold grows near water damage. It’s best to inspect these places for signs of mold growth:

  • Basement: Look in corners, windows, carpet, closets, and around appliances.

  • Bathrooms: Check around sinks, ceilings, and around toilets.

  • Kitchen: Inspect around the sink, behind the refrigerator, and behind trash can.

  • Attic: Look near the insulation and near intake and exhaust vents.

Musty smells often indicate the presence of mold, which can lead to various health risks. Inhalation of mold spores may trigger allergic reactions, causing sneezing, a runny or stuffy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. People who suffer from mold allergies or asthma may experience more severe respiratory problems. Certain types of mold, like black mold, can lead to mycotoxicosis, a condition associated with serious health effects like respiratory problems, fatigue, headaches, and skin irritation if exposure continues for an extended period. Those with weakened immune systems, respiratory problems, or allergies may be more vulnerable to the health risks that come with musty smells. Therefore, it is crucial to address and eliminate the source of the odor promptly.

Bathroom tiles can contain asbestos, just the same as patio tiles or kitchen tiles. Remember that asbestos was used primarily for its insulative and fire-resistant properties, both of which are desired in a house. Before we knew asbestos caused cancers and other diseases, it made a lot of sense to include it in many different building materials, including bathroom tiles.

Areas of your home may provide an ideal environment for green or black mold. Most molds love moisture and will thrive in wet or damp areas. Some types of mold, such as Stachybotrys chartarum, grow well on materials commonly used in homes, such as gypsum board and wood. Mold may also grow in areas where there are leaks, such as in bathrooms, kitchens, or basements.
