"I had a good experience with MD Painting... and they did much more than painting. They completely redid the restroom of the master bedroom. They also completely redid the kitchen. And in another restroom they changed the toilet, sink and mirror only. All together: materials and labor I spent $15,450. Alot of this is due to that I chose the most premium and choice materials you could find. And this includes wall tiles, 2 toilets, sink, new shower walls and floor, new kitchen walls, new handmade cabinets in the kitchen (which they made), top quality granite (bought at Tajams) countertops and a matching granite table (which they made) and fine chairs (7 in number). The workmanship was superb. It could have been done cheaper but like i said I went for the most premium materials. And I should have perhaps not brought in the price of materials into my review, I know, but it would just get a little tedious to divide the costs all perfectly like that for me. Also, they were very nice in their character. I say because I've hired other construction companies that when nearly completing the job seem like they are dragging their feet murmuring about how hard they are having to work, just want to get paid and leave and not finish the details. It never felt that way with MD Painting. It was a serene atmosphere of trust and charity circulating among all of us. I have more projects for them in the future."

"From the beginning, when I met Mr. Jim Hernandez, he and the other staff members were very courteous and professional. Materials and cost were explained and agreed upon. The job was delayed due to several days of continuous rain. They made sure that the job would be done when it was clear. Once the job was begun, I was shown the damage. I was shown the before and after pictures. I was very pleased with the work. They did a great and professional job. I can rest assured that the new roof will last a long time and prevent my home from being damaged by inclement weather. I will recommend Roofing Solutions to anyone who needs a roof replacement."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Constant exposure to inclement weather conditions can damage your deck, causing it to fade, warp, or crack over time. Regular maintenance keeps it looking and performing its best. That means giving it a good cleaning and applying a quality sealant or wood treatment to help defend against moisture, sun damage, and everyday wear.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

The best type of paint for concrete exterior surfaces like concrete porches, steps, or walkways is high-quality exterior-grade paint with strong weather resistance. Acrylic latex blends with tiny anti-slip particles will help create an anti-slip coating for your concrete porch. This type of paint will stand up best to the elements, especially rain, snow, and ice. An exterior epoxy will also help strengthen your concrete porch.
