"Knockout Paints was great! They helped us pick the right shade of blue for an accent wall. (Room is sea creature themed.) They were quick, professional, and affordable. We will definitely use them for other projects in the future!"

"Despite some initial complications on the side of Home Advisor and two of their employees, Super Paint and Remodeling was able to contact me and set up my appointment. They were very accommodating and were able to reschedule due to the hailstorm the day before. Their representative was extremely courteous and professional. I knew they were a good company when they arrived at my house 5-10 minutes early. Being punctual is something that is practically forgotten in today s world so they started off well. They finished the job in less time than expected, my rescue dogs and I are extremely thankful!!!"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Sanding surfaces, repairing damage, cleaning thoroughly, and using quality primers are all steps you can take for exterior home painting.

While a pressure washer is certainly powerful enough to remove old and peeling paint, this is not a great idea to do yourself. The pressure washer is so powerful that you could actually damage the walls as you strip away the paint. It’s best to leave paint stripping to the pros.

Using a wire brush, forcefully scrub the surface to remove paint from metal. You’ll want to remove any lingering rust, too. For larger areas with caked-on rust, you may need to use a wire brush drill attachment. If the paint still won’t budge, apply a chemical paint stripper to the area and scrape off the paint, after following the paint stripper’s instructions.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

There are times when you should remove all exterior paint before repainting. This includes when you need to get rid of lead-based paint (which should be done by a pro), or if you need to apply a different finish than what’s already there. Your house may also have too many pre-existing layers of old paint, in which case you’ll be better off getting rid of the old layers first.
