Arrived on site on time 9:00am with two workers, started removing old doors.
<br /> Old doors removed by 12:00 noon,
<br /> Owner went to get doors, and delivered new doors by 12:30 - 1:00pm. There was a small mix
<br /> up as to the left or right swinging doors. But was corrected right then.
<br />
<br /> Workers started by nailing molding on door then placed the pre-hung door in
<br /> opening. I thought that was a very odd method to install the door. I questioned them on their choice of install
<br /> method; they assured me that this was quicker and more accurate way to
<br /> hang the doors.
<br />
<br /> It took until 10:30pm to complete the install of the doors.
<br />
<br /> Upon closer inspection we found a very poor installation of the
<br /> doors, some of the molding was not even attached to the frame of the door, Big
<br /> gaps around on several doors that no amount of caulking could fix. Paint on the
<br /> molding was chipped and most looked like Swiss cheese with the number of holes
<br /> from nails shot through them. Some doors would not shut properly.
<br />
<br /> I called owner several times on Saturday morning and asked him to come and
<br /> inspect the project. We had a crew starting painting that day and this was
<br /> going to hold up the project if it didn’t get completed. Upon inspection he
<br /> agreed to put new molding on for cost of molding. (In retrospect we should have
<br /> requested new molding in the bid as the reason to replace the doors was the
<br /> excessive coats of paint). The owner should have advised us that the old
<br /> molding was not going to be successfully reused. The new crew installed the new
<br /> molding making cuts with an old fashion miter box. This crew was a little more
<br /> experienced but still took until 6:00pm to finish.
