"I would highly recommend working with Abel and Sons for all your Tree Service needs. I had several overgrown trees that they were able to trim professionally and in a timely manner. Scheduling the project was almost immediate and the price overall on the project was extremely fair. I happy with the results from the project and think the trees look great!"

"Josh and his team were a pleasure to work with. Our project had 10 trees to remove and trimming dead branches in a small grove of oak trees plus chipping the debris. The bid was competitively priced and I would hire them again."

"the work was done on time and they were very good. the problem i have is when he came out and gave me a price it was $275.00 higher than Anthony tree service. so i told him i would just wait. at that point he said he would match the price. when it came time to pay him his price went up $100. so my advice to you is get the price in writing. they do good work don't get me wrong."

"Shaun and Seth cut down a massive tree in my yard and they were super knowledgeable of what it took to get the job done. They made my life so much easier I highly recommend them to anyone that needs any sort of tree removal or tree work done? I have worked with other people in the past and they were nowhere near as knowledgeable, capable as Shaun and Seth!"

"I thought it was so high, that it was out of the ballpark of probability. I wasn't too sure that I wanted organic materials put on. I originally thought that it was an attractive thing, but I wasn't so sure afterwards that I wanted them to put organic materials on because I felt that it would degrade. We wanted dirt - plain, old, dirt. Our interaction was all over email so it was okay. The quote that we received was okay. It was sufficient. The service was not what I wanted, so I don't see any reason to ask them to do it again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.

If a tree isn’t pruned, it can inhibit proper growth and fruit production, cause damage to both the tree and your property, and create entry points for pests and diseases. Pruning a tree enhances its stability, appearance, shape, and growth. Pruning trees regularly can also save you money long-term by avoiding overgrown or dangerous dying trees.

For safety reasons, leaning trees are best removed by a professional, as they may often tear away from the hinge, causing you to lose control over where the tree falls. If you choose to cut down a tree leaning slightly, avoid cutting off root protrusions before you start. Make your hinge a little longer than usual by cutting it deeper (up to 30% of the diameter) and applying a wedge into the felling cut on the side the tree is leaning. Stand away from the direction the tree leans while making your felling cut.

Getting a tree pro with the right experience can be the difference between your transplanted tree surviving or not. When hiring a local tree transplanting and removal service, follow up on references, check their portfolio, ask for a breakdown of the costs, and get proof of liability and workers’ compensation insurance.

Also, look for companies certified by the International Society of Arboriculture or registered with the Tree Care Industry Association and make sure they have an appropriate state or city license.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.
