"They were very fast to conduct initial tests. Once test results were available they worked with us on a plan to remove the asbestos on a timeline that worked for us. I would recommend them for any of your testing and removal needs."

Customers say: Quick response

"Whole house removal of popcorn ceiling containing asbestos. AES was absolutely superior, which is in stark contrast too many previous home repair experiences. Many past experiences with contractors have been disappointing especially where those doing the work are NOT direct employees of the contractor. In too many of these cases, the contractor (1) communicated poorly with the sub contractor; (2) rarely, if ever, exercised routine quality control; and (3) had greater sub-contractor loyalty than customer loyalty. There were cases where the sub contractors attempted to do less than contractually required and then cover it up. Not so, with AES. Miguel and his crew paid attention to the details. Shortly after AES finished, and before any follow-on work was done, I had a professional appraiser review the house. The appraiser commented that this was one of the cleanest houses if not the cleanest that he had seen following popcorn ceiling removal. It probably cost more than what a typical painter may charge, but it was done correctly. I can sleep at night."

"Sid was presented with a " sensitive situation" , as I, the homeowner, was going to have to get financial assistance to test and then remove/replace as necessary. Sid handled the situation between myself and the other party very professionally and thoroughly. He explained his findings and was always available to answer questions and concerns . Being cognizant of each customers current situation is imperative to a successful experience. I would highly recommend Sid and his company !"

"Martin was very responsive all the time. The price held, and they did what was agreed. Also they did the job exactly with the initially communicated schedule. Our project was to remove asbestos containing popcorn ceilings and floor tiles mastic. The floor is incredibly clean! Ceilings were a tough one due to popcorn overlaid with even older texture. It will require lot of work to get it nice, but Martin communicated that with this method there will be some damage to the drywall. I can well recommend this company."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

It can be safe to live in a house with asbestos as long as the asbestos-containing materials are intact, in good condition, and not disturbed. Asbestos becomes dangerous only when its fibers are released into the air, which happens if the material is damaged, crumbling, or disturbed during renovation work. If you suspect asbestos is present, do not disturb it. Instead of removal, materials in good condition can sometimes be encapsulated. It is recommended to have regular professional inspections to monitor the condition of the asbestos and prevent health risks from potential exposure.

Most manufacturers stopped putting asbestos in linoleum before 1980 due to public concerns about its toxicity. However, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) didn’t ban asbestos-containing products until 1989, and a comprehensive ban was not announced until 2024. This means that homes built after 1989 may still have asbestos in their flooring.

Asbestos-containing materials, like duct wrap, should be encapsulated using a sealant specifically formulated for asbestos. These sealants work to bind with asbestos fibers and help further neutralize them as a health risk. Whenever you’re working near asbestos-containing materials, be sure to keep safety as a top priority and wear a P-100-rated respirator as well as protective clothing.

When asbestos damages the lungs it causes a condition called “asbestosis” which, unfortunately, can’t be cured once it’s damaged the lungs. This condition is chronic and any treatment is undertaken to improve quality of life. This usually involves quitting smoking, being prescribed oxygen, and undergoing lung rehab. Severe cases usually require a lung transplant.

While asbestos can’t be directly absorbed through the skin—the fibers are too big—skin contact can still produce symptoms. Contact dermatitis can flare up in sensitive individuals but in most cases, the danger from asbestos comes from inhaling the fibers, or dust, that is produced when asbestos is disturbed. If you touch asbestos by accident, immediately wash yourself and your clothes.
