"We were looking for attic insulation and found Texas Pro during google search. We left a message on web site and few day later Nick Anderson contacted us and setup a time to explain the system. Nick scheduled a meeting, where he explained how his radiant barrier and how it worked compared to other insulation. We felt very confidant dealing with Nick. He is not your also ran salesperson. Nick is down to earth and explains the entire process without ever pressuring you to make a purchase. He even showed us his own electricity bills to show the difference. We opted to schedule the installation of the radiant. A time was set and workers arrived 05/31/25. They were on time and Stephon and Rasaun got to work. It took about 5 hrs and hour to install and clean up. Stephon showed us the work and explained how it was installed. It was all professionally done and looked very neat and clean. The workers took great care to prevent any damage to ceiling. It was a phenomenal job by Stephon and Ra"

"They did an excellent job. The before and after pictures really showed me what they did. They replaced the ducts that were damaged for less than what my a/c company was going to charge and replaced my insulation and did a lot more work as well. I am very pleased with them."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The best type of attic insulation depends on where you live, your budget, and what stage of construction the attic is in. For example, if you're building a house, then structural insulated panels are a worthy investment since they're easy to install during construction and they're the most energy-efficient type of insulation.

Additionally, if you live in a very warm climate, then you can potentially save quite a bit of money by opting for reflective insulation, which is more affordable than comprehensive insulation but doesn't work well for cool climates. Blown-in, loose-fill, and spray foam insulation are all great options for attics in moderate climates.

Structural insulated panels and rigid foam boards have the highest R-value of any insulation that contractors commonly use, with R-values reaching up to around 8.0. These types of insulation are best in extremely cold climates, but they’re generally preferred for new construction, as they can be challenging to retrofit. Blown-in and loose fill insulation provide the next best insulative value, provided the installation is done properly. It’s important to choose an insulation type that meets your needs based on climate, as maximizing R-value may not always be financially worthwhile if you live in a moderate climate.

If you need to insulate behind finished walls, the best option will likely be to have an insulation professional install blown-in insulation. The installation requires small holes cut in your wall, after which the installer can blow loose-fill insulation into the void. After the installation, you’ll have minor drywall patching, which shouldn’t cost more than $100. Compared to ripping down the existing drywall, using a different type of insulation, and replacing and finishing the drywall, this should save you hundreds or even thousands, depending on the size of the room you’re insulating.

Yes, an automatic pool cover retains heat. It can act as a thermal blanket because the heavy vinyl traps heat underneath, keeping the water warmer than if there wasn’t a cover. Keeping the pool cover closed when the pool’s not in use can also help reduce water utilities and save on pool chemical costs because there won’t be as much evaporation.

Mineral wool has an excellent life expectancy of up to 50 years, provided it's kept dry and free of pests. Compared to fiberglass, with a life span of 20 to 30 years, mineral wool stacks up well for long-term cost savings. Sheep wool maintains a similar life span to fiberglass, while estimates for hemp wool insulation life expectancies are all over the board, ranging anywhere from 20 to 100 years.
