"I hired Dylan to put on a drive way into my place. He came out to my location and wanted to know what I wanted. He suggested a crushed limestone as base and topped with crushed asphalt. They completed the job and looked awesome. I had him complete a circle drive of same material. Very pleased with my new road. Since the road, they have built me a leveled pad for patio, one for building and pad for my new double-wide."

"Kristopher Strube/ Owner/Operator is very easy to work with. He operates in a very professional manner. He is hard working and very well mannered. I was very pleased and pleasantly surprised with all the work that was accomplished in the short time he had his equipment operating on our ranch. Kristopher went above and beyond for us. He was very efficient and stayed within the budget that was originally established. I highly recommend Kristopher Strube and his employees at Strube Land Services for any brush, tree, clearing, road work, or any land improvement needs. "I am a wheelchair bound veteran. I have been setting up my back yard as a haven for me and my pups. Aubrey came to make an estimate, and showed me that i had done things a bit out of sequence. I should have removed the 2 trees before installing the shed. He talked about taking out the trees and removing the debris, and quoted 1500, to which I said yes. It was a bit pricier than I had hoped. Aubrey came, removed the trees as described and removed the debris. He noticed in this that my wheelchair was getting stuck in the doorway, and installed a threshold ramp without extra charge. I was overjoyed and would highly recommend McLean tree service. Very kind, helpful, observant and above and beyond professional."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

Decomposed granite and caliche can both harden into a solid surface using a plate compactor. However, due to decomposed granite’s fine particles, it’s not suitable for driveway surfaces. Some homeowners use pea gravel mixed with a gravel-binding resin to bind the loose stones and create a solid surface that won’t shift like loose gravel.

Yes, you should lightly wet the sand with a hose before laying the pavers on top. This activates the bonding agents in the sand, ensuring that your pavers don’t shift around during the installation process. However, you should make sure that the sand is not soaked; overwatering can cause the sand and pavers to not set properly.

You’ll first need to install a base underneath your pavers for extra stability and drainage. Otherwise, the pavers can sink into the ground, and you’ll have to reinstall them. Use a base gravel layer of 4 to 6 inches for walkways and 10 to 12 inches for driveways. Compact your gravel layer every 2 to 4 inches so it’s nice and solid. After you install your gravel base, apply a 1-inch layer of sand on top.

There’s no single best asphalt grade—it all comes down to where and how it’s used. Highways and heavy-traffic roads need something tough, like polymer-modified asphalt (PMA) or Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA). Local roads and parking lots rely on the Performance Graded (PG) system, chosen based on climate. A PG 64-28 mix, for example, handles a broad temperature range while simpler, more cost-effective mixes are typically enough for residential driveways. The best grade of asphalt depends on traffic, weather, and your budget, which is why a professional’s input is always a smart move before making a decision.
