"Golden Key Drywall did an excellent job at my home for my two projects. They were small areas but they were extremely professional. They communicated with me during the process and are extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Archie and his brother Hector were excellent! I would hire them again to do any project. I highly recommend them for anybody who needs drywall projects completed."

"Rick was excellent in every way with the repair of my ceiling - where 'Santa' had fallen thru the living room ceiling right next to the fireplace. The ceiling was damaged right near the fireplace brick which led to a lot of jagged areas that a clean repair was 'impossible' by my estimations.  He was quick to respond to my repair need; came out with a team who masked off the entire living room with plastic to prevent drywall dust everywhere else. The repair was done quickly, professionally and he even removed all the popcorn ceiling stuff, refinished the ceiling, cleaned up the whole mess and left my place looking like it had never been just repaired. I would definitely recommend Rick - and have contacted him again to do a way bigger job with an extension on the house."

"I highly recommend him! He did an excellent job removing and replacing the Sheetrock in one of my rooms. He was professional, dependable, and paid close attention to detail. The work was completed on time, the area was left clean, and the finished wall looks great. I would definitely hire him again for future projects."

"I love that they were able to mend a big hole in my wall, paint walls and ceiling, cut, install and paint baseboard. He also installed all our towel holders and toilet paper holder. Even installed our new lights. All quality work for a very fair price. We will use him again and suggest him to others!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You may need to replace drywall because of smoke damage. If the drywall is covered in soot, you may be able to clean it, but it will require a lot of time and effort. You could spend hours cleaning the drywall only to find there is more damage and it needs to be replaced anyway. It’s usually easier and safer to remove the smoke-damaged drywall and replace it.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

Cracks, holes, water damage, and dents from heavy equipment often require repair.

Venetian plaster is a highly durable wall finish that becomes a rock-like substance once dried, making it last longer than most other wall finishes. Its lifespan can range from decades to centuries, potentially lasting a lifetime. Key factors influencing its longevity include the quality of the initial application, whether it's properly sealed against moisture, and how the wall is maintained and treated (e.g., how often it is touched or bumped). Due to its mineral content, it can also develop a patina over time.

Certain drywall textures, like sand and sometimes popcorn, can be smoothed by applying skim coats, sanding the walls, or chipping away the texture. However, it’s worth considering removing the texture and starting with a blank canvas. Smoothing textured walls requires a lot of sandpaper and elbow grease and can take longer than just outright removing the texture.
