Small jobs welcome

"Definitely recommend Patch Boys Bob responded quickly and scheduled the job promptly for drywall and ceilig repair work. Jose showed up on time and worked with utmost care. He did a thorough job and was respectful to our home. He took care not to get dust on our hardwood floors. Reduced a star because another person showed up to help midway and he didn't care about maintaining a clean workspace. He was constantly walking on bare floor and filling it with dry wall dust eventhough there was a path of plastic sheet to walk on and spilled a lot of dust on the floor during final clean up which we had to clean later."

"I had a leak in the laundry room. The other side of the wall was in the garage was soaked. The drywall was removed along the entire wall and all the insulation was removed up to the cross beams. The Patch Boys came in and replaced the insulation, repaired the drywall, and even finished it to match the walls. They even refinished places were there had been patches before that did not have the texturing done. The repair was done so you cannot see where the repair happened. In the laundry room the only thing they had to do was replace the baseboard. After the job was done, they moved the washer and dryer in the laundry room back in place. In the garage they helped us move the Refrigerator, Freezer, a gun safe and a large cabinet back in place. Moving was not in the job description, but they did it as a favor for us. The price was very good. i highly recommend The Patch Boys."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

Brick and stucco are a lot more different. You must use picture hanging clips designed for brick walls, or use a plaster rail system with adjustable hooks. Any other type of hanging hardware will cause damage to the bricks behind. You won’t be able to really use nails, either, because they’re not strong enough to go into the bricks.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.
