The non-communication has been the biggest issue where we have been going back in forth for now three months to get work done and they have yet to do anything. They did come out and replace the dead plants but did not do any of the other maintenance work but sent us a bill. We told them they had not performed the work requested and they responded they would send out a crew to fix. Two months went by and after several calls, they sent one person out to review the plans, but he told us this is maintenance work and he doesn't do maintenance work. We've made at least two dozen calls over the last three months and unfortunately now have to move on to a new landscape provider. Most unfortunate is that due to the drip lines they installed not working during the summer, we now have multiple dead plants and trees. The lack of communication with a customer who has spent thousands and wants to do more work is amazing to me. We contracted with Stone Image Works (Current address: 208 East Terminal [Down Stairs], Atlantic Beach, NC) also doing business as Beautiful Lawns for two projects. The first project was for the installation of a paver walkway and patio. The patio included a fountain and surrounding flower bed with drip irrigation. The second project was the installation of a whole lawn irrigation system. Both projects were completed over a five month period. The performance and quality were marginal at best. Major issues we have with the two projects are addressed separately below.
Pavers: During the initial meeting the Stone Image Works Owner/Representative orally described the process for installing concrete pavers. The process was consistent with installation standards established by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). For residential patios and walkways the process consists of excavating the designated walkway/patio area and laying a compacted aggregate base generally 4? thick although the thickness may vary based on subgrade conditions and climate. A layer of bedding sand 1? to 1½? thick is placed over the compacted aggregate base. The pavers are then positioned, leveled and compacted over the sand layer. Unfortunately after the project was complete we learned Stone Image Works had not installed the compacted aggregate base. We were told by the Stone Image Works Owner/Representative the compacted base aggregate was not required and not used in our area by any of the landscapers he knew. The local ICPI representative confirmed the contractor?s claim was not true and he stated we would most likely begin to see problems with the installation within a year or two. We were not able to reach an acceptable resolution with the company.
Irrigation: In November Stone Image Works installed a 12 zone irrigation system. Four months later in April the backflow preventer was installed and the water turned on in preparation for spring and summer watering requirements. Pipes in the system were broken in four locations. Stone Image Works was contacted and sent a repairman to our home the following week. While observing the repair we noticed some of the pipes were only 2? below the surface of the ground as opposed to normal 8?
to 12?. The breaks occurred where the thin-wall PVC pipes compressed against each other. In three of the breaks leaks occurred at the point two or more pipes were compressed against each other. The pipe at the fourth break was completely shattered. Since the repairs were made we also learned the rain sensor was not connected to the controller. The wire was simply coiled and buried in the ground. Additionally waterproof wire connectors were not used. Finally, after checking with a plumber we learned Schedule 80 pipe should have been used instead of thin-wall pipe to connect the irrigation system to the house water line.
Our experience with the work performed by Stone Image Works also doing business as Beautiful Lawns has been totally
unsatisfactory. In my opinion the company either lacks knowledge of applicable industry standards for installing concrete pavers and irrigations systems or knowingly does not apply them. We will never use Stone Image Works/Beautiful Lawns, nor recommend the company to others.
Lessons learned from the two projects as they relate to Stone Image Works are as follows:
1. For all stone/paver work insure the contract clearly specifies the work will be accomplished in accordance with and comply
with industry standards defined by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). If industry standards are not available, insure the contract clearly defines how the work will be performed. For example, all irrigation pipes will be at least 8? below ground surface.
2. Insure the contract contains a completion schedule and include clearly defined monetary penalties should the schedule not
be met.
3. Insure contract contains a customer satisfaction clause that allows the withholding of at least 25% to 50% of the contract price
without penalty until all work is finished, inspected, and accepted by the customer.
4. Include in the contract that the customer has the right to oversee or obtain an agent to oversee work performed and to insure
all applicable industry standards are followed. Further, the contractor agrees to remedy substandard work at no expense
to the customer and within a reasonable time frame.
5. Require the contractor to provide a complete list and description of the materials to be used and agree to replace components identified by the customer. (NOTE: The intent here is to allow the customer an opportunity to research materials the contractor intends to use and specify preferred items.)
6. Insure the contract contains a warranty clause that requires the contractor to compensate the customer for any work failing to
meet industry standards or failure to use materials approved by the customer.

I was happy with the estimate and his suggestions however I had a few questions. I emailed him for answers so I could give the go ahead on the project and there was some delay. I called and this was corrected right away. I also found this was due to an employee leaving and Monty having to pick up his slack. A new landscaper was sent out and she changed almost everything Monty had suggested. I liked her suggestion but assumed she was going to be working with the same budget Monty had and that was not the case. Her estimate came in much higher. After some work and scaling things back work began. I have to say that because of having to scale things back I felt that I was not getting the best landscaping for my lot but I am happy with the outcome. I have had two neighbors knock on my door asking who did my landscaping. I have a couple of very small issues which I have not yet had a chance to contact the company about. Two plants died right away and one bush is planted sideways so much so that it is laying down. I know that they will correct these issues as soon as I contact them so I am not worried about this at all."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/plano/love-your-lawn-reviews-120452.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Baldi Gardens Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"COLLETTE M."},"reviewBody":"Ricardo Baldi and Baldi Gardens were incredible to work with. "We were having issues with water retention. After looking over the area, we decided to remove about 4 inches of dirt around the house grading down as it went. This made a moat that emptied into the ditch. We also had two mounds of dirt moved, a decline added to the back porch and an area scraped and leveled for our beehives. Price was fair and work was excellent. "

FAQs for plant watering projects in Malakoff, TX
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Lawn irrigation is the process of getting water to your lawn, grass and all, for it to grow. There are five main types of lawn irrigation methods:
Manual irrigation puts you in charge of the flow of water. Using a sprinkler head on your hose is best to evenly distribute the water across your entire lawn. This doesn’t take much time but requires you to be physically outside holding the hose.
Above-ground sprinklers attach to your hose and rotate or oscillate around your lawn. Since these are above-ground, they’ll need to be moved when it’s time to mow, and depending on the size of your property, you might need to move it around your yard for full coverage.
In-ground sprinklers are flush with the ground when not in use but pop up above the ground level when it's time to water the lawn. Piping for these sprinklers is all found underground, and there are different types of sprinkler heads for different uses and lawn sizes.
Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.
Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.
The cost of a lawn sprinkler system is $2,550 for the average homeowner. However, this price can range from $350 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of sprinkler system you install, the size of your yard, and the type of sprinkler heads you choose. For example, rotating or oscillating sprinkler heads are more expensive than stationary ones, making the cost for one sprinkler head $2.50 to $30 each. Likewise, a yard that is 1/4 of an acre in size averages a total average price of $2,460; however, a one-acre yard averages a cost of $9,840.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
