"Gary called me less than a minute after I submitted my project to Servicemagic!! He was also the only contractor that did call me. Gary was very friendly, helpful, and was able to come out and give me an estimate that same day. My folks were replacing the nearly new carpet in their house with hardwoods and had offered it to us, so he would be installing used carpet. My wife and I already had two other estimates, and Gary's came in considerably lower!! He began our install the day after our "new to us" carpet arrived, and finished the following day. We were very pleased with his work. He even came back and did a few touch ups two week later!!"

"We had purchased a home and after closing, we saw that carpets were in bad shape and would all need to be replaced.  We were leaving town for 2 weeks and moving in immediately after our return.  We had dealt with Joe on a small job at our prior home so went to visit his showroom.  Joe responded immediately by going out to the house, taking samples and measuring so we could pick the flooring and get an estimate.  We were able to quickly decide with his input and agreed on installation the following week.  We left out of town on 8/27/14 and returned on 9/10/14 to absolutely beautiful floors-the wood is gorgeous and carpeting looks great.  We weren't here to check on things as they were working but came home to a completed job with total cleanup.  What a deal!
The total bill was more than I had anticipated paying but we are so satisfied with both the products and workmanship as well as the service, it was worth every penny.  It's great to work with providers that you can trust and do what they say they will do.  Fine Floors certainly exhibits those qualities."

"I had never hired a professional contractor previous to this.  Toned Homes came highly recomended from reviews on Angie's List and testimonials.  From the beginning estimate to the finished product, they remained very professional and curteous.  Everyone involved in the remodel were definately a credit to their craftsmanship.  The quality of work was very high!
The finished product blew us away!  We didn't realize our old and tired looking 80's style kitchen could be transformed into such a wonderful and modern room1  We'll be proud to show off our kitchen for many years to come!  Toned Homes delivered the kitchen we wished for.  We highly recomend Toned Homes!  Thank you again!

"My husband met with Trey, the owner, to pre-screen carpets while I was at work. Trey provided quotes on everything my husband inquired about based on the square footage from our floorplan dimensions. He also advised us on which carpets he'd be able to receive quickly because we were in a time crunch. Once we selected a carpet, Trey came to the house himself to verify the measurements. He and my husband had an extensive conversation about where to seam the carpet and he agreed to my husband's recommendations. The carpet came in on the date promised and our install was scheduled for a holiday weekend. No one on the installation crew spoke English, so my husband was unable to communicate with them about how the carpet should be seamed. The installation itself was done very well, but the carpet was not seamed where we wanted it. After the holidays we contacted Trey and he resolved the issue to our satisfaction. I'd use them again, but be sure the installers have a diagram in hand."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.

Standard padding works like a sponge. It absorbs liquid, soaking up every drop of moisture that hits it. Moisture barrier padding does the opposite because it has a waterproof coating made of plastic film, rubber, or treated foam. It doesn’t absorb spills and keeps them on the surface instead, so you can clean them up before they damage your subfloor.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

If you want to save money on carpet repairs, there are a few ways to save without sacrificing quality. Some options you have include:

  • Cleaning set-in stains by renting a steam cleaner or using DIY carpet cleaning methods

  • Prepare the area for repairing yourself, such as moving furniture, to avoid unnecessary fees.

  • Protect high-traffic areas with a runner rug to avoid excessive wear and tear.
