"When I read the reviews for Dynamic Electricians, I knew Chris and his crew were who I needed. When I bought my home, I had multiple home inspectors come in so that I could ensure faults found were true faults. I informed Chris about some of the faults with the electric, and not only did they find them, they found more that the inspectors didn't. One of the issues found with a ceiling fan surprised us all. Needless to say I hired them for the major projects ahead . I hired them based on not only their ethics and professionalism but for their honesty. Folks, if you are looking for a hack backyard electrician, this company is not for you. If you want to have peace of mind that your family and property will be as free of faults as it possibly can electrically, and are willing to pay for superior work, then pick up the phone and call Dynamic Electricians. You will be glad you did."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There are many types of ceiling fans available, each designed for different spaces and needs. Standard ceiling fans are the most common type and work well in most rooms. Low-profile ceiling fans are better suited for rooms with low ceilings. Smart ceiling fans can be controlled with a smartphone or voice commands. For larger spaces with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, large ceiling fans are ideal. Dual-motor fans have two motors to produce more airflow in multiple directions. You can also find energy-efficient or Energy-Star models that can be up to 60% more efficient, as well as fans with built-in lights or retractable blades.

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

Ceiling fans offer multiple benefits for your home. They improve air circulation to prevent stagnant environments and provide cost-effective temperature control, which can reduce reliance on your HVAC system and help lower utility bills. In addition to their functional advantages, ceiling fans can also enhance a room's aesthetic appeal with features like built-in lighting and modern styling.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

There are many types of ceiling fans, from self-automated smart ceiling fans to outdoor ceiling fans that provide additional comfort to your patio. What you choose all comes down to function and personal taste.

Consider your ceiling height when selecting a ceiling fan. Rooms with ceilings under eight feet high will do well with low-profile ceiling fans, also known as flush-mount or hugger ceiling fans. If your home has cathedral ceilings or ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high, you’ll need a large ceiling fan with a heavy-duty motor to get adequate air circulation.
