"He installed a complicated flagstone walkway, on-time and on-budget. Always let me know when he was showing up. I appreciated the work and professionalism enough to ask him back out to do a different job."

"Marines continuing to serve their country by providing outstanding electric service. They electrified my outdoor storage shed and installed floor outlets in my living room. The work was of excellent quality. The work was completed in a timely fashion and for a fair price. I would definitely use them again and I highly recommend them to everyone I know."

"Lonnie Goodman was very responsive to what we wanted, and our budget. He found a turf product we liked at a close out price, and did an innovative install of a 105 foot long roll, with only 1 small seam. He brought over 12 workers to manually move the entire piece into place where it was then cut and fitted against a rock wall, making our back yard look like a manicured park. Even though there were shipping delays with the freight company, the install began as soon as the turf arrived, and took less than 3 days to finish. A Quality 1 also committed to come back and inspect the turf after it had settled a few weeks and make any required adjustments. Lonnie was good to work with."

"My husband and I moved into a house with a rain catchment system on it, with no idea how to run or maintain it. We reached out to Viking Water Well, after we couldn't find anyone else to come out and tell us why we suddenly lost water. It turns out our pump had burned up, because it was at the top of the hill pulling water instead of at the bottom of the hill pushing the water up, like it should have been. Sheldon came out, and told us what the problem was. We needed to move the pump and pressure tank to closer to where the water was coming from, and he was able to do that for us. When we decided to add an additional tank to our system we called them back up. They came out and in one day had a new water holding tank installed. They've helped us replace our UV Sterilization lamp, as we did not know what we were doing. Always friendly, always super helpful, and in my opinion fairly priced."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

A spark arrestor is not the same as a chimney cap. Both sit on the top of the chimney. However, the cap keeps debris from entering the chimney, and the spark arrestor’s primary function is to prevent burning embers from escaping. Some spark arrestors are integrated into the chimney cap, and others are installed separately.

A grease fire starts if hot cooking oil comes into contact with a heat source, such as an electric heating element or the flame on a gas range. Once the grease is ignited, it can be very difficult to put out.

The NFPA model codes and International Residential Code (IRC) mandate that all new one- and two-family homes have fire sprinkler systems. However, all municipalities are different. The best way to determine if your municipality requires fire sprinklers is to contact your state fire marshal’s office. One reason to install a fire sprinkler system is that it’s the first line of defense in putting out a fire and alerting your family of emergencies.

In addition to flashing, a roof cricket can help divert water around your chimney so that it drains properly off your roof. It’s shaped like a double triangle and is installed behind the chimney so that falling water spills evenly down each side. This helps prevent water from accumulating behind your chimney, which can increase water damage and the risk of leaks.

The International Building Code (IBC) requires cricket installation if a chimney built after 2012 measures over 30 inches in width. Chimneys constructed before that date are typically grandfathered in and aren’t required to have crickets installed.

You should schedule a fireplace inspection at least once a year, per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). However, this is the minimum requirement even if you’re diligent with fireplace maintenance between uses. If you suspect your fireplace is malfunctioning, schedule one sooner to avoid fire hazards or the release of harmful emissions like carbon monoxide in your home.
