"We had some bad weather come our way and knocked some tree branches on top of the roof causing damage. I called Master Tree Services and Edgar came out very quickly to give us a great estimate. "I hired Joshua with Box Tree Care to cut down trees that fell May 9th and trim up other trees / branches. He responded immediately, is courteous, friendly, knowledgeable, arrives on time, very prompt and his crew goes out of their way to make sure a great job is done, even if Joshua has to leave for a minute. They went around picking up odd branches without being told or asked. They cleaned up and hauled everything off. Very fast workers. I highly recommend Joshua for your arborist needs. You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

A tree can split because of high winds, a change in temperature, or from an infestation or tree disease. All of these factors can overlap, making a single cause difficult to pinpoint. While winter storms are some of the most common causes for a tree to split, it can also happen because of termites or rot.

Trees don’t usually grow back after being cut down. Some particularly robust tree species may start sending up new stems from a stump to recover, but those stems won’t become a “tree” like before.
