He said he would be at the job at 8 AM and he was there at 8 AM. He said the job would last one day, it lasted one day. "Do not hire?.We hired him to replace a wood fence and porch lights. Light project went ok, but not the fence replacement. He installed a fence post which was out of square. The fence boards he claimed were good quality, cracked next the day from too much pressure. He used 8 ft boards instead of 4 ft. It took him two weeks to return to replace the fence post and six new boards which cracked the next day. He blamed Home Depot for defective boards. He chose their product and blamed Home Depot. I told him he should pull the boards off and cut to 4 ft and re-install. He said he wood for more money. I told him no it was his responsibility to fix it. He never returned. Me and my spouse pulled the boards off, re-cut and re-installed. I should not have listened to his sales pitch."

Laminate-cutting blades also tend to have more teeth than wood blades, reducing the chances of chipping the countertop.

If your countertop is a landscape of nicks, scratches, gouges, and discoloration, you may wonder if you can repair them. Often, you can fill in any nicks or gouges using laminate refinishing kits or epoxy fillers. You can remove some stains and discoloration by gently scrubbing them with a paste made from baking soda and water and a toothbrush.

You should never use gritty or abrasive cleaners to clean your Formica countertops, and the same goes for scouring sponges, steel wool, or anything acid-based like vinegar. You can make laminate counters look like marble by following the steps above. However, the condition of the laminate may limit the final results. For example, if the laminate is splitting at the corners or has sharp edges, the epoxy may not work or mimic natural marble as well.

Contact cement is the best glue for resticking laminate to countertops. For best results, find a product that specifically states that it can be used to secure laminate countertops, such as 3M High-Strength Spray Adhesive, Weldwood Contact Cement, Gorilla Max Strength Clear Construction Adhesive, or 3M Fastbond. Before gluing, sand the area you plan to glue to remove any large debris and to rough it up for better adhesion.
