"John from Baird Foundation came to give me an estimate on repairs needed. He measured each room and also checked the entire outside perimeter of the house. He answered all my questions and explained the entire process of foundation repairs needed. He offered to make the same presentation to my husband at our convenience. John returned and again explained the process to us addressing all our concerns. He explained the difference between their steel piers and other methods of foundation repair.
The work was started after the holidays. However, it had to be stopped because the static test of the drain system performed by plumber failed indicating one or more leaks under the foundation. The plumber recommended contacting our insurance company to determine if the work might be covered by our policy.
I was told by insurance company to halt work until claim was investigated and processed. I called Baird Foundation to ask if someone could bring plywood to cover open holes until work could be resumed. They responded immediately.
I contacted Amber in the office periodically over the course of several weeks to give her updates on our insurance claim.
At long last, the engineer hired by the insurance company made his inspection and indicated to me foundation repairs could be restarted.
I contacted Amber and their crew, led by Juan and Diego, came within a few days. Work was resumed. Crew was awesome, professional, hard-working, and superbly cleaned area after work.

Under normal circumstances, you don’t need to turn interior water off if it’s cold outside. But if you plan to be away during cold weather for more than a day, turning off the water can help prevent freezing and burst pipes. If you lose heat, turning off the water can help to keep pipes from freezing as well. You should turn off exterior pipes for sprinklers or outdoor irrigation for the season once temperatures begin to fall in the late fall and early winter.

Hard water that is caused by high concentrations of calcium, magnesium, and potassium in a water supply is the leading cause of buildup in pipes. Hard water can be fixed by different types of water purification.

Trenchless sewer replacements are actually a great solution for sewer lines located under concrete. A professional can still sleeve and burst old piping to make room for a new one without having to dig up your slab.

Whether an earthquake gas shut-off valve is required depends on your location and circumstances. Certain cities, states, and even insurance providers mandate them, especially in areas with high seismic activity. In California, for example, while laws vary by county, most jurisdictions require a valve to be installed in newly constructed homes or when a home is sold or renovated. The Los Angeles Municipal Code specifically requires a licensed contractor for installation. Even if not required by law, installing a seismic shut-off valve is a wise safety measure. These devices automatically cut off the flow of gas during an earthquake, which can prevent gas leaks, fires, and explosions. It is recommended to check with your local building department for specific laws regarding installation, permitting, and inspections, and to ensure the valve you install is on your city's list of approved models.

There are three main types of shower valves: pressure-balancing, thermostatic, and diverter. Pressure-balancing and thermostatic valves are both considered mixing valves because they regulate water flow and temperature, but they do so in different ways. A pressure-balancing valve senses changes in water pressure, such as from a flushing toilet, and adjusts the incoming hot and cold water to maintain a consistent temperature; these typically use a single knob. A thermostatic valve uses a thermostat to precisely control the water temperature and requires a separate control to adjust the water volume. A diverter valve directs the flow of water from one fixture to another, such as switching from a tub faucet to a showerhead in a tub-shower combination.
