It took two emails to convey the work we wanted because the nice people saw "gable vent" and passed. When we explained "siding, flashing, wijndow" we had Scott S. out for a look at a time that fit my schedule. He inspected the area and provided us with a written quote on the spot (Schulte has done enough work that they have captured their bidding metrics into a nice paper worksheet). We upgraded the repair by requesting HardiPlank vs Cedar and having both sides done. in our case the size of the boards would never exactly match because Cedar is a different size now than in the late 1960's. Scott was clear about what to expect. The Change Order was handled via email.
Clemente and his helper appeared on time to execute the repair, when they ran into problems they apologized, ran back to the shop (30 mi away) and came back armed for bear (extra equipment and materials). They were very approachable with questions, stacked wood that I could re-use for patching in the future, and cleaned up to the expected standard (which is to say we ALWAYS find some nails, wood chips, etc after a job but that's the standard).
We had the house painted 2 days later and the painters had no issues. Two days after that we tested and no leaks were found. A week later we had 2 days of rain - nice and dry.
Scott sent us a few emails touching base during this time to ensure the work was done correctly and to our satisfaction. Another call confirmed it was ok to bill and when we indicated we verbally approved a change order to add some house wrap to the side with the rotted wood - they said "shop supplies - no charge". Granted it wasn't much but it was the attitude that thrilled us.
We had previously used Schulte for a 1/2 roof replacement and they made good on a few hiccups along the way with a smile.
The guy who answered the phone was so nice, and promised someone out very soon. I was ecstatic, because I called at 4:45 on a Friday afternoon!!! Well, the guy came - and I think his name was Aaron or Alex (sorry, I don't really remember)... anyway, he took the panel off the outside unit and said there was no electricity getting to the unit and that I would have to call an electrician because there was nothing he could do. Well, I ended up calling a friend to cry on her shoulder because I was afraid of what the expense was going to be. It turns out she had a friend in the biz, and called him up. He came over at 8:00 the next morning.
He took the panel off, and agreed that indeed no electricity was getting to the unit... but that was only because the switch in the unit was bad - a switch that is INSIDE the unit itself, so clearly in an AC guy's realm. He had the switch in his truck, and within 45 minutes I was up and running again - for $125!!!! Alleluia!!!!! The guy said that unfortunately, many servicemen will say the problem is out of their hands on a late Friday call. I don't know if that was the case with the Barker's guy, or if he was just inexperienced. In either case, we suffered needlessly both from the heat and the anxiety of anticipating costly repairs and downtime.
I wish I could give you the name of the man who fixed it, but he did it as a side job and I don't know if he would get in trouble with his boss for that.
As far as the good things I can say about Barkers - the man who answered the phone was very nice, and the repairman was very pleasant. The price would have been great if they had fixed the unit. And the fact they came out on a late Friday afternoon was awesome. Unfortunately, they just didn't do me any good.

They protected the floors all the way from the front door into the bathroom. I appreciated that very much. Removal of the shower doors and installation of the grab bars was done properly. They were pleasant and cleaned up after themselves. There were stains along the front edge and sides of the tub surround underneath the removed frame. Not surprised at that. One of the men called a cultured marble company and found the best way to deal with it was to buff it out. Nice of him to call for me. The next morning I discovered the caulking they used to fill the holes left from the door frame removal had shrunk. I called Lori and she said they would fix it. Howard Bond was scheduled to come out for a remodel estimate on another bathroom within a couple of weeks. She said he would do it then so I went ahead and paid the bill. The bill states it is due on completion. And states and quot; All work is complete!and quot; When he got here he said he wasn't going to fix the holes, I should have the buffers do that. He was right here. It would have probably taken maybe ten minutes to do it. So I guess they're not going to finish what they started. Sad. I hired them based on reviews here on Angie's List.

Example would be removing light fixtures to put the siding on would just be thrown back on the wall and not work. The roof and siding all have warranty. Once he was paid he would not respond for weeks after repeated calls about an issue. When responding refused to follow up with what he did. It is about 2,000 sq ft., two story house with siding on the upper level and rock on ground level. I contacted Gary to give me an estimate for repairing some water damage at the roof edge of the back porch, power washing the whole house and exterior painting. He called me after looking at the house and suggested that we needed to replace the siding on one side as it was falling off in some places and weathered badly. Gary advised that we would be wasting our money to simply re-attach and paint over the old siding. My concern was matching new siding to the existing siding because of the age. He assured me that he could make it work. My husband and I chose the paint colors we liked and contracted with Gary to do the job. Gary called me about the colors we had chosen saying he didn't feel we would be happy with the result. We changed the colors to be a little lighter than we had originally picked out. I think Gary was a little concerned that we didn't go light enough but in the end we were satisfied with the result. They did a good job on the siding (the difference in the siding is not noticeable). The repair work at the roof edge of the back porch looks good. I do think they could have done a better job scraping the old paint from the garage door. The rock on the house had acquired an algae buildup over the years that they successfully removed except for around the air conditioner. It looked like they just went around it. They missed some lattice work on a railing on the back porch but later came back and got it without a problem. Overall, we were pleased with the quality of the work and appreciated Gary coming back and taking care of the lattice that was missed originally.
I should tell you that all of our business was done by phone because we live out of town and our house in Austin is rented out. We have never actually met Gary or his crew. It's a little like going out on a limb doing business with someone you've never met and we've certainly been burned before. I appreciated Gary's honesty, his willingness to work with our tenants and assuring that we were satisfied with the job even after we had already paid him. We would certainly recommend him to others. His barber did not ask very many about exactly what he wanted done, although it was pretty simple. She was very quick, but when he got home he found that the haircut was fine, but his beard had some irregularities (a gouge on one side, neck not cleanly shaved, temples uneven by about an inch). It didn't help that he was too far away from the mirror to see these things before he left. Overall, the service was professional and courteous, but lacked attention to detail. This may merely be the result of inexperience with beards. The problem was not serious enough to warrant returning to have it corrected, but was easily fixed with a personal beard trimmer."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/bryan/great-clips--colony-park-reviews-5471043.htm"},"position":10}]}
Siding Service reviews from real Angi homeowners in Franklin, TX
Jose and his crew were professional, reliable, on time, very honest, and did great work. We had a leak in an upstairs room and thought it was the roof. Joseâ s crew looked at it and said the roof was fine; it was coming in from a leaky window/siding. They fixed it and the leak is gone....

I wanted to get the job done while spending the least but still wanted great quality. They recommended a place to get the fixtures and did a great job on the work. He delicately cut a hole in the sheetrock on the opposite side of the shower valves so as not to damage the piece of sheetrock....

FAQs for siding service projects in Franklin, TX
Siding repair costs$870 for an average homeowner. This cost could be as little as $75 or as much as $16,000, depending on your existing siding material, repair type, and damage level. For example, for basic siding repair, you can expect to pay between $2 and $16 per square foot for materials and labor. However, if you have extensive damage or for more expensive materials like stucco, that price jumps to $4 to $50 per square foot.
The cost to replace siding for your home is $11,450 on average. But siding replacement can cost up to $40,000 or more, with the largest expense being your chosen material. For example, for a 2,000 square feet house, the average cost of siding materials such as vinyl is between $9,000 and $14,000. Wood siding is a little more expensive, ranging from $16,000 to $26,000. However, for the same size house using brick or stone, that cost jumps to $18,000 to $100,000. When choosing to replace your home’s siding, it’s essential to consider your climate and longevity.
The length of time your siding will last will depend on the siding material and your climate. It’s important to remember that proper routine maintenance, like twice-a-year cleaning, is vital to help extend the longevity of your siding and to avoid replacement before its expected lifetime ends.
Vinyl, aluminum, and wood siding lasts 20 to 40 years
Fiber cement siding lasts around 50 years
Brick and stone veneer siding lasts at least 100 years
There are several different types of siding available to give you the home exterior of your dreams. Each type of siding has its own cost factors, estimated lifespan, and benefits to fit your needs. Some common siding options include:
Vinyl
Wood
Aluminum
Fiber cement
Brick
Stone and stone veneer
Stucco
If you want to stay environmentally friendly, wood siding is natural, recyclable, and renewable. However, if you’re looking for a durable siding option that is more resistant to dents and scratches, brick or stone siding is your best choice.
There are certain circumstances where your homeowners insurance might cover the expense of siding repair. If you have siding damage due to extreme weather, a natural disaster, a fire, or a hail storm, your policy might fully or partially pay for the repair or replacement cost. However, most policies will not help pay for repairs due to general wear and tear. It’s best to review your homeowners insurance policy for full details on what may be covered.
