"I knew when Paul Alvarez came to give me an estimate that things would go well. He was on time, professionally dressed, and an immediate help. Workers were already at my home taking up carpet and laying wood floors. Paul noted that the baseboards they had taken up were in really bad shape and advised me on an inexpensive way to replace them. He even went and placed the order at the local building supply store for me! The painting job went really well. Paul and his crew started every day when they said they would, kept me apprised of progress, and left the house (and my brand new floors) spotless every afternoon. Moreover, when my carpenter flaked out on me, Paul was able to find a carpenter for me who did a very good job and was able to start within a day of my original schedule. Paul and his team were flexible and figured out a way to get the work done even when I asked them to paint additional walls toward the end of the job. Professional, punctual and helpful. Wow!"

Small jobs welcome

Hi my name is Chris Hill I run Hill Exteriors and we are a small local residential construction company mainly focusing on exterior work but we have the skills and knowledge to tackle almost any project you have related to your home. I grew up as one of those kids who loved tools and taking stuff apart and putting it back together and started my career off at Home Depot at the age of 18 where I ended up being promoted and managing the paint department there. I trained under an extremely skilled contractor for about a decade before he retired and he left me with the skills ,knowledge and the accounts to be able to continue the work he had trained me to do at fair prices. I take pride in my work and not try to sell people stuff that they don't need. If what you need done is not something I can handle I will be up front about it and I have a large network of local contractors that I trust that I can put you in touch with. I am insured and local with plenty of references!

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.

Your room doesn’t need to be completely empty to restretch a carpet, but you’ll need enough space that you can move around furniture to access the wrinkled areas and the wall where you’re reattaching the carpet. A contractor will move your furniture out of the way before they start the job, but you can save money by moving your furniture before they arrive.

How long carpet dye lasts depends on the quality of the dye and the application process. At a minimum, dyed carpets keep their color for a year, but some can last longer. Many factors affect how long carpet dye lasts, including the amount of UV rays that hit the carpet, causing it to fade. However, the good news is you can have your carpet dyed annually to keep up the color.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.
