"Arjon Painting was a complete life saver. I had a tenant do a lot of damage to just one bedroom and I just needed texturing. We had a quote from one contrator and one that showed up, but never heard from either one. I posted to Anji's list stating it was a small job hoping I could get anyone to come texture this room. He called me right away and came out and gave me a quote. He came out the next day and got it done in just a few short hours. It looks amazing and it is nice to know that there are some contrators willing to do small jobs to help out people in need! I could not have done this without him. He was polite, friendly and very punctual. He always called me to let me know he was on his way, which I appreciated. For me acknowledgement is huge and the other two contractors could have just sent me a text to say they were not interested, but did not have the courtesy to do that. I would highly recommend Arjon Painting and not the other two that I will not name."

There are times when you should remove all exterior paint before repainting. In most cases, paint primer is necessary before painting over wood paneling. A hardy primer formula covers up stains and leaves a grippy surface for the new paint to hold onto. There are two primer choices: oil-based or latex-based. Choose an oil-based primer for durability and adhesion, but prepare for extra dry time and more VOC (volatile organic compounds) fumes. Or, pick a stain-blocking latex primer. They’re easy to apply, clean up, and affordable.

You can paint over wallpaper if it’s smooth and in good shape. But if there are bumps or tears in the wallpaper, they’ll likely show through the paint. Similarly, you should avoid painting over textured wallpaper because the ridges and patterns in the paper will be visible. In either of these situations, you should remove the wallpaper before painting.

You should always use a primer before painting over wallpaper to help the paint adhere correctly and get a good finish. Not all wallpaper can be painted over, so do a test patch in an inconspicuous area before painting an entire wall. If the primer and paint don’t adhere, you’ll need to remove the wallpaper, prime the wall, and then paint.
