"My spouse and I hired General Asphalt to pave our driveway with asphalt. The owner, Mr. Mullins, responded quickly to my phone call and came to meet me. He is a good listener and understood what we wanted -- and that's what he and his crew did. The job was done in a single day. Mr. Mullins didn't just supervise his crew -- he did some of the work himself. The driveway, which had been lined with white rocks of uneven size that made it VERY hard to walk on, looks great. We're very pleased. We give General Asphalt two thumbs up!"

"Tristan was very informative. Out of the 4 bids I took his was the highest but I feel I got the best job done. He was the only contractor that advised me to use an oil based rejuvenator product since my driveway is over 20 years old and fairly oxidized. Tristan told me What to google for options and fact of oil vs water based sealers and suggested I research myself rather than just take his word. What I discovered was a wealth of information that listed the pros and cons of oil based rejuvenators vs water based sealers all of which were spot on with what Tristan told me. I am very happy with the outcome of the oil based product and will be looking for them in a few years to seal my driveway again. The size of my driveway is just under 5,400 square feet. They completed the job in about 4 hours counting cleaning. This is a family run business that is honest and reliable. You will not go wrong with them."

"I had a long driveway widened and overlaid with asphalt. I also had a large patio and walkways laid with pavers. Concrete curbs were formed to create a boarder for the asphalt and pavers. This was a demanding job involving many different skills. LTs Pavement Solutions did a terrific job! They were responsive, fair and easy to work with. I would definitely use them again. Thank you Tim and Ray."

"After hearing how another contractor had conned me, Tony worked with me on the payment of my AC unit (5 ton Ruud-both inside & outside units) and was just awesome! He came out and saw that my current AC was fried and that we were miserable in the heat. His guys were out FIRST THING the VERY NEXT MORNING and we were happy as clams by that afternoon! They were clean, friendly, prompt and professional! I was so happy with them that I am having them replace my roof next! I have, and will continue to, recommended them to everyone I know!

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Depending on the product used, you should avoid using your driveway for 48 to 72 hours after sealing it. In general, water-based driveway sealers cure much faster compared to oil-based and solvent-based sealers. Some driveways are even ready in just four to five hours.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.

Yes, they fill all cracks and potholes to ensure a smooth, durable finish that protects the underlying asphalt.

Fading color, visible cracks, or water pooling signal the need for sealing to prevent further damage.

Maintaining a driveway depends on its material. For concrete and asphalt, it's best to clean the surface thoroughly twice a year with a stiff broom and a pressure washer to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Sealing the driveway is crucial to protect it from water damage and freeze-thaw cycles. Before applying a sealant, pressure wash the surface to remove any loose sealant, dirt, or stains, as sealing over them will trap them. Any cracks or expansion joints should be filled with a flexible polyurethane caulk or asphalt sealer. In colder climates, use sand instead of salt for de-icing. Sand helps melt snow and ice without accelerating the freeze-thaw process, which can cause cracks.
