"On October 2, 2017, Tony removed a large Mesquite tree that had leaned over on to the front of our house and roof. He and his two man crew arrived on time and when promised - in fact they were about 30 min early. They got right to work and in a very short time had the tree cut and removed from the house. Tony is an absolute professional, and his expertise in tree removal is just excellent. He and his guys are efficient, courteous and outstanding in their approach to their work from start to finish. Their attention to detail in cleaning the work site and leaving it swept and blown of the debris that occurs in doing this type of project is outstanding. I can absolutely recommend Tony to anyone that has need of his services, for tree removal and trimming. While they were here, I had them do some additional tree trimming that was not part of original job. This was done with no problem. Tony Torres is the kind of professional we all hope to hire when this type of project comes to visit. And, on top of all his excellent work, Mr. Torres is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Great job, Tony, you'll be the first one I'll call for future tree work."

"Jerry and his crew always do a great job. We've used Jerry for a few years now and he has kept our Redbuds, Chinkapin Oaks, White Maple and Vitex looking fabulous. We've always recommended them to our friends This year, 2021 our home and landscaping suffered from the ice storms but, thankfully, all our trees survived, pretty much intact and we believe this was due mainly to the regular trimming/pruning service we have with Texas Tree Service. We lost a lot of shrubs and cactii and the sad part was that our largest cactii suffered from the freeze. We had a 10 foot Spanish Dagger collapse and the top third of a 9 foot giant cholla snap off. We had Jerry come over to check on our trees and also remove the Spanish Dagger and top 3rd of the Cholla, which had collapsed into the bottom of the plant. They needed a tractor to remove the Spanish Dagger and the crew cleaned up our Redbuds and Vitex and tidied up the Cholla. As always, we are very pleased with the professionalism of the crew and the excellent clean-up."

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

In the short term, you’ll have a lot of fallen trees to deal with. Tree removal services costs typically start at $200 per tree and increase based on species and size. Then, you’ll have to deal with the loss of trees: That means a loss of shade and a greater risk of rain runoff and erosion. That being said, cutting down a tree it’s not always a bad idea. Trees growing too close to rooftops can present fire hazards or debris problems. You may need to remove diseased or dying trees to prevent future issues.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size. 

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Whether you should remove the roots of a dead tree depends on whether they’re damaging nearby areas. For instance, if the roots continue to grow near sidewalks, driveways, or the foundation of your home, they can cause damage. If you want to plant something else in that spot, removing the roots can make it easier for the new tree or plant to grow.
