"I think he actually delivered the plans June, 1st.  I wouldn't use them again. I would have liked them to have been more proactive. He basically just took my ideas and made the design and as a person that is not an expert in that field, I would have appreciated more of his expertise rather than him just taking my ideas and doing his design on them."

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.

The various types of architects can be broken down into eight distinct categories, but there can be specific specialties within each of them. Most homeowners will work with a residential, restoration, green, interior, landscape, or retrofit architect for projects. There are also lighting and commercial architects whose work is geared more toward large spaces and businesses.

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.

While the Arts and Crafts movement inspired many architectural elements, the primary styles from the time include Craftsman, Tudor Revivals, bungalows, and Mission homes. You'll see elements of these styles in homes, churches, museums, and schools—particularly Country Day schools from the era.

Most Greek Revival architecture homes are one and a half to two stories, depending on the footprint, which sets them apart from some Federal architecture homes that are three stories. The gabled roof on the second floor can sometimes cut into the living space, especially on smaller homes of this style, which leaves a much smaller living area upstairs.
