"After two cancellations, two techs arrived promptly on the third appointment. They were clean, nice-looking young men...very courteous and friendly. They surveyed the job, calculated a price, went right to work, and were done in under an hour. The work done was perfect. An estimate they made to perform some extra work if necessary (snake the line is the repaired sink did not drain properly) seemed unreasonably high - an additional $274. The $319 I paid to fix the sink wasn't cheap, since it took them less than 30 minutes to complete, but I wasn't expecting cheap. I would consider using this firm again."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The drain pump will naturally make a standard operational and draining sound several times throughout your dishwasher cycle. If you hear abnormally loud sounds like scraping, grinding, or clicking, you may have food debris or a piece of glass stuck in your drain filter. Avoid dishwasher repair by always scraping food off your dishes and loading the racks correctly.

While technically possible, it is unlikely that a clogged toilet will fix itself. Clogs caused by water-soluble materials like toilet paper or human waste may eventually break down in the water, allowing flow to resume. However, this can take time, and any clogs from solid objects require manual removal. In most scenarios, especially if you don't have another bathroom, it is best to fix the clog yourself or call a plumber.

Avoid flushing non-degradable items, schedule regular inspections, and address minor clogs promptly.

The spin cycle on your washer should initiate draining, but if you still find leftover water in the washing machine tub, you may need to drain it manually. To manually drain a washing machine, you’ll need to turn off the power supply and locate the drain hose, filter, and pump. Open or disconnect these parts and let the water drain into a bucket.

Yes, continuing to flush a clogged toilet is not likely to break up the clog. Instead, it will continue to put pressure on the clog while filling the bowl with more water, which can potentially cause the toilet to overflow—leading to an even bigger mess. Rather than repeatedly flushing, use a toilet plunger or plumber’s snake to dislodge the clog.
