"Two plumbers were sent (one for each leaking faucet?). They confirmed that the Elkay faucet would require a new cartridge/stem, but that the kitchen faucet only needed a new stainless steel ball with stems and springs. They then went to their supply store for parts, returned and installed them, after which neither faucet leaked. Since then, there has been no leak in the Elkay faucet, but the kitchen faucet began dripping a few days later. My current plan is to have another plumber install a new cartridge which I will supply in the Moen faucet."

"I ordered appliances and cabinets myself and he installed all of the appliances and cabinets. He did provide one custom cabinet. We went from a kitchen without an island to a kitchen with an island. We purchased our granite countertops from him and installed them. He tore out some old flooring and put in a base under the cabinets to be compatible with the flooring that I got from another company. He did do the plumbing work and a minor amount of A/C and duct work so that it would be hidden. He also did the sheetrock and painting.
Everything turned out fantastic. My wife was very happy with the work. I had some problems with the delivery of the appliances that I had purchased from the other company with not being delivered on time and he worked around all of that. This was my first time using him and my wife has some plans for a bathroom project and some deck work and we will be using this company. My neighbor even has some work starting with him tomorrow."

"I've had them for probably a year. I had to have them come out once and they were very good. They were excellent. They did what they said. One of the things they fixed didn't work so well and they came back immediately. It was on a garbage disposal, but they were excellent. I haven't run into any problems. The quality of work is excellent. Nice people come out. It was fine. Everything worked out really well with them. I wish it was cheaper, but what am I going to do? It's within my reach. I'm retired and I don't have a budget. It's still reachable. It's understandable, even though you don't want that."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.
