"Work was professionally done and the vendor was upfront about pricing. I knew upfront what the cost would be for the rupture based on complexity. AS for price, any time you contract this type of work out you are going to pay more than you would have if you had done it yourself."

"Scheduling was great, an appointment was made immediately and the contractor arrived on the day scheduled. After that problems started. The contractor mowed my lawn while raining and I had piles of wet grass left on my lawn. When the grass dried I had a big mess. The dead grass also killed areas of my lawn. I contacted customer service, forward photos and they rectified that problem by sending someone out to recut my lawn. I was willing to give them another chance. I scheduled an appointment two weeks in advance. The day I was due to have lawn mowed I received an email that it had been reschedule for the next day. The next day no one showed nor did I receive a call nor email at which point I terminated services. This is not a reliable business."

"The first indication that working with Rhett was going to be a pleasure was how quickly he returned my initial call and made sure to determine when his schedule and my difficult schedule would mesh. It is rare to have quick, polite, and accommodating service in my experience, and Rhett started off the right way. When our schedules finally aligned to meet at the property, I discovered he was as easy to work with in person as he was on the phone and via text messages. I had some out-of-the-box ideas about how to rework the watering patterns around the property, and Rhett explained what might work, what would not work as I supposed, and how to replace various heads to make what I wanted feasible to a substantial extent. Because the amount of work was more than could be done in the time we had available on that first day, Rhett and Emiliano did what they could and promised to return as soon as they could on another day to finish, again thinking about my difficult schedule. They were able to finish a few days later, and they again worked to fit into my schedule. The system has been running well and doing what we expected it would do. Rhett also took time to educate me about some capabilities on the control box for the system that were not on my radar. In summary, the responsiveness, pleasant wisdom about watering systems, and flexibility to accommodate my tricky schedule combined to make me stand back and applaud Rhett and his work. Watching Rhett run his business and figure out what could bring the most value to me was great."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Generally, it is not necessary to remove old mulch before applying a new layer. As organic mulch breaks down, it enriches the soil with nutrients. However, you should remove the old layer if it shows signs of fungus or disease, which can be common in moist areas, or if the total depth is already too thick. Avoid letting the total mulch depth exceed 3 inches, as this can harm plant roots. If you do remove old, disease-free mulch, it can be added to a compost pile.

The optimal time to tackle thorn bush removal is during late fall or winter when the bushes are dormant. The plants are less active during this time of year, making it easier to prune and remove. Additionally, you can more easily see what you’re cutting since there are no leaves.

Don’t pick up dirt after aerating. Even though it's tempting because soil cores are incredibly unsightly, these cores and the dirt they leave behind are ecologically important. This is what keeps your grass looking beautiful and growing healthily. The soil cores need two to three weeks to decompose, but you can swat them with a rake if their natural shape bothers you.

This depends on how many leaves there are. Mowing over dry and crisp leaves with a bagging attachment saves most homeowners a lot of time. If you have a smaller lawn and few leaves to mulch, you can put the leaves into a stand-alone mulcher resembling a wood chipper and collect the mulch from a hopper. This prevents having to do multiple passes with a mower.

To remove old grass effectively, you typically need to dig to one to two inches. This depth typically allows you to reach the root system of the grass, ensuring thorough removal. However, if the grass is a particularly dense or deep-rooted variety (such as Bermuda grass), or if you're planning to replace it with a different landscaping feature, you may need to dig deeper to loosen the soil and remove any underlying roots.
