"Bobby was a real jewel. He showed up on time and worked hard. He was very honest and I left him in my house on several occations by himself. I trust him. He ran into more than one surprise because my house is 50 years old and you never know what you will run into when tearing down walls and moving toilets and sinks and such. He did a splendid job for me and I am very happy with his work. He has called me numerous times since the job was finished, just to ask if everything was still ok. He was very good about cleaning up the room each day he was here. Hire this man! You won't regret it! Sincerely, Judy Estrada"

"Very professional. Took care with our property and he and his crew were very respectful. Did a great job on the painting and got it done in a timely manner. Would gladly use again. We felt like his bid was fair and not over the top. These guys showed up every day no matter the heat index and worked all day long. We were needless to say, impressed."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants.

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures.

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

Yes, natural pools can get algae since they use the same filtration processes as lakes or streams. However, you can reduce the risk of algae by adding more algae-fighting plants and not installing your natural swimming pool in direct sunlight, as it promotes algae growth.

When deciding whether or not to turn off your pump, you should consider your area’s climate and the aquatic life in your pond. If you live in an area with freezing winter temperatures and don’t have any wildlife, keeping your pump on could damage it. If you have aquatic life but live in a colder climate, you might consider keeping your pump running and adding a pond heater.

One reason you may want to fill in your pond is the cost of maintenance. Pond cleaning may cost about $1,000 for an annual cleanup, or monthly visits may cost $75 to $100 per visit. If you don’t want to spend that much per year on pond upkeep, you may consider filling in your pond.

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.
