"Utilizing All Service Moving for the move was a very positive experience. They had good communication, answering several questions prior to the move and did a final confirmation just prior to the move date. As for the physical move itself, Jose, Abraham, and Alberto were polite, diligent, and careful moving the many items, and managed to complete the move more quickly than anticipated."

"Nationwide made my moving experience easy. This is my third time moving cross country. The other two times prior were a disaster. Nationwide Moving really came through. Handle my belongings with care. Very polite crew and stood by their estimate and did not increase my move. I highly recommend."

Customers say: Quality work

"We recently hired Tony Ratliff of Ratliff Construction for 3 separate projects at our house, partial exterior siding replacement and full exterior paint, indoor vinyl flooring installation and window replacement. These have now been completed and we are very pleased with the quality and professionalism of the work. The subcontractors were punctual, polite and friendly. They treated our home with respect and consideration and always left it clean. Tony was very helpful and easy to work with. Best of all, was the care and quality of work on all phases of the job. The workers are craftsmen who showed a true commitment to the customer’s needs and concerns. Here are some of the most notable observations from our positive experience with Ratliff Construction. 1. During the estimation and evaluation part of the projects, Tony offered invaluable insights and suggestions for our jobs that we would not have thought of. These were recommendations regarding materials and processes that resulted in a higher quality and more economical outcome. 2. We were installing a new type of flooring product that required extra care and preparation prior to laying down the floor. The subcontractors were very diligent in their installation process, making sure to conform to the product specifications, resulting in an outstanding finished product. 3. We received the wrong materials for one job that resulted in a 1-2 week delay in the scheduled installation. We had to reschedule our installation for a later date. Tony was able to adjust the crew’s schedule on short notice and still get this project finished in time to meet our tight completion deadline. 4. Once work was started on any phase of our construction, they made sure to get finished before moving on to another job. They were efficient and focused on the task at hand. Our experience with Ratliff Construction was very positive and we really enjoy the new look of our house."

Moving questions, answered by experts

Dismantling a bed frame makes moving it from one location to another easier. However, you might not need to completely disassemble it—especially if you’re moving it from one room of your home to another.

The best way to move a 3-bedroom house long distance depends on your budget. Hiring a full-service moving company works best if you have a higher budget. If you’re on a tighter budget, renting a moving van and doing everything yourself is your best bet. Other options include renting a storage container, pod, or freight container. You can also ship your belongings if you don’t have many items.

Your furnace rests at the center of one of the most complicated infrastructures in your home. Air intakes, ducts, water, electricity, and sometimes gas connect up to the system. Most of these lines were run to this point specifically to service the furnace, so they’ll need to be closed up and new ones established.  A furnace is almost always connected to the air conditioner, so you’ll probably be moving those components as well.

Moving a furnace a few feet is probably no big deal. Moving it into a different part of the house is a different story.

When you submit your payment depends on the company’s policy and if you use the container for storage before and after the move. Some companies require a deposit, and others collect the fees on the day the container arrives at your home.

There are several effective ways to save money when hiring a moving company, primarily by handling some tasks yourself and being strategic with scheduling. Consider these methods:

  • Pack Your Own Belongings: You can significantly reduce costs by packing and protecting your items yourself. This includes wrapping delicate items, organizing them into boxes, and taping the boxes closed. You can use towels, clothes, and suitcases to pack belongings and protect breakables.

  • Provide Your Own Materials: Source free packing materials from friends and family, or reuse boxes and bubble wrap from a previous move.

  • Schedule Strategically: Book your move well in advance. Rates are often lower if you schedule your move on a weekday during the off-season, which typically runs from October through April.

  • Compare Quotes: Get moving quotes from at least three professional movers in your area. This allows you to compare services and choose the best value.

  • Ask for Discounts: Inquire if the moving company offers any special coupons or deals.

  • Purchase Moving Insurance: Protect your investment by purchasing moving insurance, especially for expensive or antique belongings.

  • Divide the Labor: While you can save money by packing, it's wise to leave the more dangerous and physically demanding work—like loading, unloading, and moving heavy furniture—to the professionals.
