"Said 3-5 business days from day I made down payment. Only took 2 days. Very reasonable pricing. They have a showroom where you can see the shower doors. Very professional with quick response to my online inquiry. Great communication. Also replaced a broken window I had in the same trip. Would definitely use them again."

"We had a great experience with the whole Cambridge team. We wanted to replace our front door and sidelite windows and they suggested that we replace our standard door with an 8' door and they were so right --- It looks amazing! The quality of the workmanship is excellent from the door staining to the installation, hardware, and clean-up. I'm pretty picky so I appreciated their attention to the details. We have gotten so many complements on the new door & windows. We definitely recommend them!"

"Our doors were ten years old and really looking worn. Marvin came and recommended a color. We ended up having them restore not only our front doors, but garage doors, shutters and corbels! Taking the front doors off and restoring them in a shop is the only way to do this! They color choice was beautiful. The project was completed on time as promised. All of the doors look better than when they were new! People stop and look at our doors and continuously rave about how beautiful they look. Great job, responsive service. What a relief to find a company with this expertise and service. Keep it up!"

"I called and got an appointment right away. Kevin came out to measure and explain the aspects of the door and about the insulation. He did a great job. I went to the showroom to look and the differences in the doors and materials. The ladies were helpful and explained everything. Bottom line they were just a little higher than the company I ended up choosing.

"The new windows are fantastic and exceed expectations for improving aesthetics and reducing ambient noise emanating from the neighborhood. We enjoy having easy to operate sashes for those breezy days in spring and fall that Houston permits. My home is typical of west side suburbs built in 1996. These homes are hastily built on a slab with low grade materials and cutting corners is sport dodging building inspectors. We met Ashley Walkes in our home and he was very informative. He talked us through numerous options and discussed at length window anatomy with excellent recommendations in our own interests for the house. We settled on the order and job details in late July and made the install in early October after Hurricane Michael receded. Our job was a long list of particulars with respect to each window. Ashley handled the order without issue or encumbering us with concerns. When the install started there was a dedicated and hardworking four-man crew every day for the entire time which took one week to complete. Numerous problems were encountered during old window extraction due to unconventional construction techniques employed years past. Billy and Mark engineered repairs around the window openings with calculated practice and methodical work ethic. Paul and Tyler were unphased and carried out tasks with deft efficiency. We were very pleased with attention to detail the entire crew afforded our job. The job completed as expected, on time, and per bid. In summary, the windows were delivered and installed with very good workmanship and without undue delays. The quality of the product is as advertised and with definite improvement. Two windows didn’t survive the journey to Texas but one replacement has already been installed and the other is scheduled. We are pleased to be able to recommend Ashley and his team for future window needs."

Doors questions, answered by experts

On average, sliding glass patio doors can last between 20 and 30 years. Their actual lifespan depends on several factors, including proper installation, frequency of use, and regular maintenance of the sliding components. While this is the typical range, minor problems and the need for occasional repairs or part replacements can still occur. Addressing issues as soon as they arise and performing regular maintenance will help extend the door's life. If the door is older and requires frequent or significant repairs, it may be more cost-effective to replace the entire unit.

You should prime interior doors before painting for the best results. If you do paint directly on the wood, you could see some of the grain patterns show through the paint, in which case you’d need to apply additional coats. Priming the surface before painting will reduce the number of coats and can better cover the grain pattern for a clean, finished look.

While spring and summer’s temperate weather can make the project more pleasant and give you more daytime hours to start and complete it, there’s otherwise no advantage to framing a door in spring or summer versus fall and winter.

A security door costs an average of $1,400, but costs can range from $600 for a simple screen or steel door to more than $4,600 for a wrought-iron security door. You can also buy specialized locks separately for $200 to $600. If you decide to hire a pro to install your new security door, you’ll spend around $275 to $425 on labor costs.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.
