"The crew from Foundation Support Specialists, which included Hector Roman, Eddie Sanchez, Ricky Rodrigez, and Mark Willis, did a fantastic job installing piers under the stem wall between my garage and house, and also encapsulating and insulating the crawl space in my basement! They worked quickly and tirelessly to get both jobs done despite having to work in 95+ degree weather with no air conditioning. They were all very courteous and took great efforts to keep the areas they were working on clean of any debris. I will definitely use them again for any future foundation work, and highly recommend them for similar work for anyone needing these types of services."

"Highly recommend Bret! Had an ongoing water issue in our basement and I finally called to get an estimate. I was impressed with his quick response as he was able to come out within a couple hours. Once he got here, he was friendly and courteous and thorough. He identified the problem and had the tools to fix it on the spot. He did his thing and that was it. No hassling or trying to "recommend" other services. Definitely will be a repeat customer for our future plumbing needs."

"Hired them to clean the tile grout (roughly 900 sq.ft) and seal it. Scott, the owner, was very professional, polite and worked with me on the budget. They arrived before time (yeah !!) and got to work. Very happy with the results and will definitely use their services in the future. Highly recommend them !!"

"The company was great in rescheduling with me from a day with rain and freezing temps. I was a little concerned that the steam cleaning was not hot enough and that not enough water was extracted from the carpet. Therefore, the technician repeated the water extraction in some of the areas. I was required to pay an extra fee to enable stain removal in portions of the entry carpet (had not expected this). Only very light weight furniture pieces were moved and I was surprised that the company does not provide carpet protectors, so I did not want to move some pieces back until the carpet was much dryer. It took overnight for the carpet to dry.
The technician was always polite and attempted to address and satisfy my concerns.

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

You can seal a concrete slab by cleaning the surface, filling in any cracks, etching the surface, applying a sealer, and letting it dry. Concrete slabs don't typically need sealing, but you can use a topical concrete sealer if you notice signs of water damage. If you haven't already fixed the cause of the leak, then you'll want to repair the plumbing before you seal a concrete slab.

Many prevention methods can be used individually or in combination to waterproof your basement. Some of the most common waterproofing methods include:

  • Using dehumidifiers

  • Silicate concrete sealers

  • Vapor barriers

  • Baseboard channels

  • Drain tile systems

  • Waterproofing paint

  • Drainage systems

  • Epoxy injection

  • Interior French drains

  • Exterior excavation and waterproofing

  • Cement waterproofing

  • Weep tiles

  • Liquid membrane

  • Sheet membrane

  • Yard grading

  • Gutters and downspouts

Water damage always poses a primary risk of mold and mildew, but growth is not guaranteed. The chances of mold developing depend on several factors, including the severity of the damage and how quickly the area is cleaned and dried. To prevent mold, you must act quickly—ideally within the first 24 hours. Clean up all water and thoroughly dry the affected area. If the damage is extensive, you were unable to address it immediately, or you suspect mold has already started to grow, it is best to assume it is present and hire a professional mold inspector or removal expert to assess the situation.

Preventing water accumulation involves regular inspections, maintaining effective drainage systems, ensuring proper roof maintenance, and taking preventive measures against heavy rainfall or floods.

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:

  • Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor

  • Mold spots in your basement

  • Musty smells or odors

  • Warped doors or walls

  • Cracks in walls

  • Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites
