"Desmond and Big Al just moved our household furniture. They were fast, friendly, upbeat and very accommodating!! I’ve never hired movers before because of being charged by the hour (afraid of sluggish workers running up the time). Well, these men were literally running back to the trailer to unload more...I was beyond impressed with them and their work ethic!! If I ever need movers again, I’ll be calling them! I highly recommend them!!"

"Miller and his colleagues were able to do a lot of things quickly. Along with everything else, they also grabbed some old furniture that I needed help moving to the curb. They took several cares to make sure nothing was damaged during the move, including wrapping the furniture, turning off all the lights, and packaging the picture frames."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

If debris from a tree located in a government-owned space (such as a sidewalk, public school, or government property) falls in your yard, it is the city’s or state government’s responsibility to have the debris cleaned up. On the other hand, most states only hold a neighbor liable for cleaning up their tree’s debris if they were negligent in caring for the tree.

Parts of a mattress that can be recycled include the metal springs, wood frame, foam, and some fibers like cotton or wool that may be found in the fabric. Not all recycling centers accept mattresses, so call ahead. Alternatively, some mattress manufacturers take used mattresses for recycling.

While a rented dumpster can handle a wide variety of materials, there are significant restrictions on what is allowed. Generally, you can dispose of most non-hazardous household junk, yard waste, and construction debris.

Accepted items typically include:

  • Furniture, carpets, old linens, and toys

  • Wood and yard debris

  • Small appliances and excess trash

  • Renovation waste like old finishes, building debris, and roofing materials (unless they contain lead paint or asbestos)

However, you cannot put toxic, flammable, or hazardous materials in a dumpster. Prohibited items almost always include:

  • Paint, gasoline, oil, and other fuels

  • Household cleaners and other chemicals

  • Electronics, batteries, and tires

  • Refrigerators, hot water tanks, and medical waste

Since regulations can vary by location and company, it is essential to check with your dumpster rental provider for their specific list of accepted and prohibited items before you begin.

Land clearing costs an average of $3,743, but prices can range anywhere from $400 to $15,000, depending on the size of the land you need cleared, how dense the coverage is, and what needs to be removed. Expect prices toward the lower end if your professional just needs to mulch some plants and shrubs on a small patch of land, and expect prices to move toward the higher end for things like taking down a large number of trees and removing landscaping boulders.

Yes, a toilet is considered construction debris or construction waste by definition in many states. Toilets are bulky, heavy items that generally cannot be thrown out with regular household trash, and many waste management providers will not pick up a toilet unless it’s part of a scheduled bulk trash pickup service.
