"I reached out to multiple contractors to evaluate and propose a solution for a complex structural problem related to my garage. Specifically, a main structural beam on my covered patio was not properly secured to the structure of the garage. Poor workmanship by a previous contractor had led to leaks in the roof above the beam resulting in rot of the wood framing underneath which eventually led to the failure of the connection between the beam and the framing members in the garage. The beam dropped several inches and damaged the siding and trim on the garage. I called Kephart Handyman after reading their reviews on Angie's List. Barry promptly replied to my inquiry and came to my home to evaluate the problem. After taking some pictures he came back to me quickly with a proposal. There was some uncertainty on what would actually need to be done depending on what his team found when they removed some of the damaged wood. In the end, Barry's team removed and replaced all of the damaged structural framing, roof decking and shingles and added a new support column for the beam. They wrapped the beam to match others on our patio. The quality of their workmanship was very good and the team cleaned up as they did their work. In the end, the job took five days instead of the quoted three days and involved unplanned removal and repair of drywall inside the garage. Barry stood by his estimate and did not charge extra for the added time it took to make the repairs. Overall, I was very satisfied with their work and their ability to find a solution to this complex repair. "Jose and his team are exceptional. We hired him for 3 small projects (installing a screen door, installing a barn door in the nursery and replacing water damaged ceiling and adding beams). The quality and thoughtfulness of the work far exceeded our expectations. How can you exceed expectations installing a screen door, you ask? He noticed we had cats and made sure to order an upgraded pet-safe door. All materials were included in his estimate and he consistently ordered extremely high quality materials and finishes. He was always exactly punctual and communication was very clear. We would trust Jose with every aspect of our house and immediately requested estimates for additional work after he finished this project. The title "Handyman" doesn't do Jose justice - he's a craftsman."

"Steven came with his crews and painted my 2 story house from top to bottom the pressure washed it to get all the dirt mildew, and falling paint off, then he painted the trim and then began painting the entire house. I had also asked him if he could paint the black balcony gates and he offered to change it for free, he also changed a piece o rotten wood I had on my garage for free. 
I am very satisfied with his work, I received a couple quotes before calling him and the were charging me 20,000 plus.
Not to mention his price was cheaper. his quality of work was excellent and he did a few things for free.
I am very happy with his work and will be my go to painter each and every time, he also does a lot of other work so i will call him when i decide to renovate my office and kitchen.

"I really wanted to provide a good review to these guys if only for the repeated effort they put in trying to get it right. Once the owner started to blame me and my house for the struggles they had, I decided I needed to write an honest review. So I have a house that was built around 2000 and it has rolled on texture and stamped ceiling texture that is applied using spackling compound. This is very common in this area and prior painters have had no problem matching it. In this case the crew admitted to me they were not professional painters, they did not to keep the area neat (drips on carpet, stain on pool cool deck (photo), stain on garage wall (photo), muddy boot prints on stair carpeting (see photo), etc,), they could not create a straight line in corners where two paint colors merge (see white/blue paint photo), and did not know how to texture. The wall texture had to be done over three times - that is literal. I showed them how to do it. They eventually got that fairly well figured out. The ceiling was another story - the area that had a sheet rock repair was retextured 5 times over three visits (see white ceiling / gray wall paint photos). At first it was totally terrible and I had to tell them what ceiling texture stamping tool to buy from Home Depot (pretty much the main one they sell). One painter told me he watched utube to try and figure out how to use that tool but did not have any experience with texture. He was not satisfied with his own work, to his credit. Finally the owner came and redid it. I was dismayed to find how rough it looks. I have hired someone to re do it. I can not recommend this company. If you do hire them, don't pay up front like I did."

"We met with Wally, showed him the very rough plans we had, discussed our ideas and the vision we had for the end result. He "got it".  After a couple of meetings and revisions we had plans that encompassed our ideas with his design knowledge and expertise. It wasn't easy to take an existing structure that couldn't be changed and design a workable, functioning unique interior but Wally was able to do just that.
We found him very open and easy to work with. His explanations of what would and wouldn't work were valuable knowledge for us.
We would certainly work with Wally again and not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing an architect/designer.

"Mark answered when I first called and was able to come look at the job and provide an estimate the same day. He and a helper arrived the next morning and spent three hours washing leaves and pine needles off the roofs and gutters of both the house and garage. Then also bagged up the debris. Overall, I felt Mark provided a service than I expected. I would call him again to do other projects as listed in his profile."

"I had problems in our back yard with water pooling during heavy rainfall and was concerned about possible flooding of our house and garage.  We have a pool and concrete patio, so I knew this was not going to be an easy fix.

Rob came out and spent about 2 hours looking over our situation and talking about options.  After he left, he came up with a single plan with components so we could proceed one step at a time, then wait and evaluate the success of that step or do a number of steps at once. 

Since we we were very concerned about the possibility of flooding, we elected to proceed with regrading, adding an exterior drainage line from the garage to the street, replacing an existing line from the house to the street, adding catch basins and re-grading areas around the house and garage.

The work was done at the days and times arranged; the crew was very considerate and professional and the work was beautiful.  

Most importantly, we have had several very heavy rainfalls and the solutions we had implemented by Works By Rob are performing as well as we had hoped.   We had no accumulation of water and no worries!"
