"Mr. Barnett (Melvin) was the first to call once the bid request for a chain link fence replacement was submitted. His was the best bid. He was ready to start after utilities were marked. He and his crew showed up when promised and got the job done in a single day, although the sun was pretty well down when he finished. Great price and great service for my fence project. I would highly recommend Barnett Fencing and Desk Restorations, LLC."

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Noah's Ark to install a pet friendly front yard fence using 2x4 wire mesh fence for us and were so satisfied with the quality of the work that we have hired him to install additional barbed wire fence on other areas of our property. We will continue to use Noah's Ark Fencing for our future fencing projects."

"Trysten and crew did a wonderful job installing our fence. It looks sturdy and beautiful!! He fulfilled our special request and then some making us super happy we hired him. I appreciated the 10% down payment as other companies were asking for 50%. Plus he provides a one year warranty others did not. They removed the old fence, hauled it off, installed the new, and cleaned up all in 2 days!! I highly recommend them to install your fence."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

This depends mainly on how well the posts were installed and what type of wood was used to build the gate in the first place. Softwoods have a life expectancy of up to 15 years but can last slightly longer with regular maintenance and waterproofing treatments. By contrast, hardwoods can last up to 30 years with little care, so you may avoid costly replacements by spending a little more upfront.

A gate shouldn’t be higher or lower than the fence it's attached to. If the gate is lower than the fence, it encourages strangers to peek at your property. If the gate is higher than the fence, it just looks weird. Gates allow for increased security and aesthetics, so ensure the gate rests at the same height as the fence.

Yes, fence posts should be set in concrete to provide the proper support for the fence. If you notice your fence posts leaning, you’ll need to learn how to brace a fence post to fix the problem and prevent further damage from occurring. By bracing a fence post properly, you’ll provide stability and sturdiness to your fence for years to come.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

The standard height for a split rail fence is three or four feet. This height requires two to three horizontal rails, making it ideal for homeowners wanting a budget-friendly split rail fence. If you’re hoping to contain agile livestock or animals like dogs, geese, or goats, you may prefer to install a six-foot tall fence with four or five rails or a four-foot-tall fence with three horizontal rails. This will help prevent animals from climbing, crawling, or jumping through the rails.
