"I recently had an outstanding experience with Texas True Appliance Repair, thanks to Rich, who was my contact there. After my dishwasher broke down unexpectedly, I reached out to them at 5:10 PM, and to my surprise, Rich had everything organized to address the issue promptly. By noon the next day, my dishwasher was running smoothly again, thanks to their swift and skillful service. Not only was Rich incredibly helpful and professional throughout the entire process, but the cost of the repair was also very reasonable. The quick turnaround, coupled with the excellent customer service and fair pricing, truly sets Texas True Appliance Repair apart. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for dependable, efficient appliance repair. Their team, especially Rich, won't let you down!"

"I had called everyone that might help me fix my dishwasher...pumped the septic, snaked the main sewer line, called appliance repair, replaced the heating element, verified that the drain hose went from high to low; my dishwasher was still back flowing scrud onto my clean dishes at random times. Signed up with Neli, and had the answer to my problem in 15 minutes. James F gave me the part number for replacement and wa-laa, I’m waiting for it to come in the mail. I am very impressed and will use this service again as needed."

"I've been very satisfied with the excellent work done by the Browns. Some of the numerous house jobs they completed include: painted 6 interior rooms, removed popcorn ceiling, applied special paint to the garage floor, installed 4 ceiling fans, light fixtures, shelves, installed multiple curtain rods, accessibility grabrails, TV mounts, gym pull-up exercise bar, toilet bidets, spackled and repaired large cut-out holes in the ceiling, replace door handles, and assembled shelving units and furniture. The plumbing work included repairing the dishwasher and garbage disposal, and a leaking shower valve. They are my go-to for home projects and repairs. Honest, competent, reasonable and fair pricing, clean, and courteous."

"Jonathon was professional and assisted us with multiple projects. He installed a ceiling fan and helped us connect it to our phone. When a screw broke during installation, they promptly went to Lowe's to get a replacement. Afterwards, he installed a kitchen soap dispenser. I will definitely hire Jonathon again for future projects around the house"

"This proved to be a tough installation. Panasonic trim kits for built-in microwaves leave a lot to be desired. In fact, if I had it to do over, I would go with a different brand. Bruce discussed the issues with me step by step as to the best resolutions and got my buy in rather than just do what he thought was best. I appreciated being a part of the decision making, and I'm very pleased with the end result. He was very fair with the charges in light of the work being much more extensive than anticipated."

Dishwasher Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use vinegar to unclog a dishwasher. To do so, combine 4 tablespoons of white vinegar with 4 tablespoons of baking soda and pour the mixture down your dishwasher’s drain. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then pour a cup of hot water down the drain to flush everything out. Finally, run a rinse cycle on your dishwasher to see if the clog is gone.

It’s not worth fixing a 20-year-old dishwasher or any 20-year-old appliance. Twenty years is beyond the useful life span of nearly every major household appliance. Once the appliance nears the end of its useful life span, repairs will become more frequent. A replacement often becomes more cost-effective at that point.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

If your dishwasher keeps filling with water at the bottom but doesn’t fill into the sink, the issue is likely due to a blockage within the dishwasher or drain. Regularly clean your dishwasher filter basket to ensure it’s not clogged with food, and run a vinegar rinse periodically if you have hard water to remove limescale buildup.

Water is sitting at the bottom of your dishwasher, likely because the filter is dirty with food debris or because the drain hose has a clog. If the water is still sticking around after following the steps above, it’s time to contact a local plumber.
