"Super. The gentleman came and installed the light outside. Then he installed the switch inside and then changed the switches around on one "bank" of switches. Then he left. Short and sweet. I appreciated the fact that he came in, did the work, and then left. I would definitely hire him again."

"I contracted with JPR to install a wall so that I could convert an open room into an office. They were very fair with their pricing, and did a marvelous job installing the wall to meet my expectations. The renovation included putting in transom windows, a barn door, overhead recessed lighting, and a ceiling fan, along with the required electrical wiring and switches, as well as miscellaneous hardware. Along with installing the wall they also needed to texturize the wall and paint it to match the existing interior. The new wall and completed office now fit in seamlessly and looks like it was always here. We also utilized Roman to install a new pair of windows in our bathroom and plan to use JPR going forward to help us with our other renovation needs. Roman and the other employees he subcontracts did a wonderful job, and they are very friendly and easy to work with. We are pleased with our decision to use JPR!"

"Over Christmas, the pilot light went out on my heater. When we tried to re-light it, it wouldn't stay lit. I bought a big deal off Angie's List for a heater inspection and diagnostic check. The people from Calahan, called and set up an appointment. They arrived promptly and diagnosed the problem. The tech actually attempted to save me money by replacing my valve with a used one first, but when he couldn't do that, he went and got a new one and replaced it quickly. He told me exactly how much the new valve would cost before leaving to get the new one. The price seemed reasonable and I agreed to it. I assumed that was the price of the part with no labor. It turned out to be the total price! It was a very good experience. I would highly recommend Calahan Construction and Air."

"The team pulled down my 20 year old chandelier and replaced it with a can light.  The team showed up on time, was incredibly efficient and were careful about keeping everything clean.  What an amazing experience.

"Everything went great! I needed a light fixture to be installed in a high ceiling that was complicated to get to. They were able to get it installed and now my entrance looks great! They are very professional. I was contacted on the same day and was given a reasonable price. I would definitely hire them again and would recommend them."

"Your Next Painter provided excellent service in repainting the wall, baseboards, trim, existing pantry door, and new doors for washer dryer area within the kitchen area. The trim and doors were perfectly matched in color to the kitchen cabinets that were installed about 5 years ago, and walls were painted a color that blended well with those and the counter tops and floor. We couldn't have been more satisfied with the results. We will definitely be using Your Next Painter on having additional rooms repainted over the next few months, as well as the entire outside of the home. Your Next Painter is highly recommended if you are searching, or in need of, a painter for your home. David, I will also be recommending you to all of our friends and neighbors. Thanks for an outstanding job."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

A ceiling light will usually have two or three wires: black, white, and sometimes green. Black wires are positive, or hot, while white wires are negative, or neutral. The green wire is the grounding wire.

When you’re wiring the light, connect black to black, white to white, and green to the grounding screw.

There are a variety of hooks available you can use to hang your Christmas lights on concrete without drilling unsightly holes. Attaching hooks on gutters or using construction adhesive in a caulk gun are two options that work very well for getting hooks to stay up all season.

Depending on your preference, a 100W bulb could be too bright for a bedroom. Most people prefer softer, relaxing bedroom lighting using a lower wattage bulb, around 40W to 60W for incandescent or the equivalent in LED (around 450 to 800 lumens). For adjustable brightness, consider using dimmable bulbs or layered lighting with bedside lamps and overhead lights to create a comfortable and versatile lighting environment.

If you’re planning to use an LED in an enclosed fixture like a lantern, check that the bulb is rated for enclosed spaces. LEDs are sensitive to heat, and overheating can lower their lifespan. While you can still use some LEDs safely in enclosed areas, it must be the right LED.

Generally speaking, you can install one recessed light for every 4 to 6 square feet. A 12x12 room is 144 square feet, which would need 24 to 36 recessed lights. The wattage you use for the light bulbs and the height of your ceilings can also impact the number of recessed lights you need for a 12x12 room.
