Small jobs welcome

"Doug responded expeditiously to my request for window insect screen replacement. His work is excellent and reflects his attention to detail. The cost to replace my kitchen window screen was reasonable. I will definitely contact Doug for future window screen work."

"They installed 13 screens on our windows (different sizes) and did a marvelous job. When first called, they returned the call immediately and came out when they said they would (they called again prior to coming out to measure and price). Gave me a date for installation and called before the installation date to check to see if it was still a go. Liz is a true professional. Chris did a fantastic job. They were awesome!"

"Jim responded promptly to my order placed on Angie's List for the Remote Computer Tune Up & Repair Deal.  He cleaned up the computer remotely, which was running very slowly, and required frequent re-boots.  Computer is running much faster now.  Great service.  Would highly recommend.

"We are very happy with our outdoor kitchen. Charles was always available by email, text or phone. He promptly returned all of my emails, texts, or phone calls. When the project was completed we were very happy with the results and made our final payment. Charles saw an area that he was not happy with and sent his crew out to fix it, that's going above and beyond.

"I called GCR Builders to rebuild the first floor of our home following flooding from Harvey. This was the second time they had worked for us, and I felt confident they would treat us fairly and do a quality job. I was not disappointed. Scott provided a detailed estimate, arranged the purchase of all the materials, and was attentive to scheduling - I always knew when to expect the crews to arrive and the reason for any (rare!) delays. We continued to live upstairs during the work, but I felt confident leaving the house in their hands as needed. The work included a complete kitchen rebuild, drywall, paint, new interior and exterior doors and windows, and excellent carpentry on the stairs and custom newel post. I would definitely hire GCR Builders again as my go-to contractors."
This home had a small upper porch with a defective beam that supported the third-floor exterior wall.
We were able to save the cabinets and countertop. I was pleased with how everything turned out.
Kitchen remodel in League City. Custom-built cabinets were installed, stained, and a Dutch finish coat was put over the stain to produce these beautiful finished cabinets. We also installed a quartz countertop.
This Clear Lake master bathroom was transformed into a beautiful bathroom. We installed a prefab vanity cabinet with custom built granite countertops and backsplash.
This was a flood restoration project on Dickinson Bayou. The kitchen was transformed and brought back to life after being submerged under water.

"I had a cabinet door with broken hinges and several others with loose hinges.  Oscar replaced the broken hinges and exchanged the loose hinges.  I also had a section of caulk in a shower panel that needed to be removed and replaced.  He did not have the actual white caulk that I had expected him to have (I had called to verify he would have bathroom/waterproof caulk but did not specify the color because I thought the caulk only came in white and he would know what I need).  He did have clear caulk or maybe it was a glue.  I do not remember that detail at this moment but I do remember he said it would last longer than the caulk that he removed.  I also had a ceiling fan light that was not working that I wanted him to fix.  I had read in the owner's manual that flashing light bulbs means the electrical wiring needs repairs.  I had also asked if this repair could be done when I was scheduling the appointment and was told yes.  Oscar could not fix it and said a part, I think it was the transmitter or something like that, needed to be replaced.  I had him remove the ceiling fan and reinstall the original light fixture (I needed light in the room).  I rated punctuality with a B because he was a little late.

Oscar was more than willing to do the work I requested and he had a very good attitude.  I was a little disappointed that he could not fix the ceiling fan and that he did not have the white caulk/glue.  But, at the same time, it was a very good price for the amount of work done and he was very polite and cooperative. "

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

Window screens can take anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour to replace, depending on the complexity of the replacement and the accessibility of the window. Replacing the screen inside an existing frame normally takes longer than replacing an entire screen, frame and all, if you purchase a prefabricated screen already mounted on the frame.

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.

Awning windows can have screens, but it depends on your manufacturer. If your awning window does have a screen, it will be on the interior side so it doesn’t get in the way when you crank the window open. Having the screen on the inner part of the window also makes it easier to clean from inside your home.
