"Neitra was very helpful. She arrived on time and even called the day before to remind me of our appointment.  I purchased the four hour home organizing special. During that time we were able to rearrange a large closet filled with photographs, reorganize my coat closet, remove and replace all items in my bottom kitchen cabinets, discussed how to organize my garage so we could park another vehicle inside, and even how to better handle my paperwork.  Neitra is a real pro when it comes to organizing. I can not believe how much we accomplished in that short amount of time."

"The 4 men with 2 trucks arrived very timely, about 8:45 a.m. I believe. After getting the trucks arranged for best loading, one on the street and one in the driveway, I showed them what all needed to be moved, both in the home and garage, as well as what was not to be moved. This was not an easy move for any of us, however, as I was not prepared due to unforeseen circumstances, and still had friends there helping to pack in an attempt to stay ahead of the movers. Once the 4 men had loaded everything in the house which was to be loaded (I thought), they moved into the garage and began loading there. I later found packed boxes in the closet of the study (closet doors open) which did not get moved. I missed checking before we left, however, due to chaos and just assumed that if they had moved on to the garage that they had gotten everything which was ready to go. I still had plenty more that had to be packed and transported by car, in several loads, so it wasn't a huge deal, just a minor disappointment.

I found all of the men to be very careful with wrapping, padding, etc. in order to take the best possible care of my goods. They also conscientiously pointed out any prior damage, both for my own piece of mind later as well as their own protection. They handled several valuable prints, large fragile items, flat screen tv, etc. and were very careful.

Although I had purchased color-coded box sealing tape with room identification (ORANGE/KITCHEN, BLUE/BEDROOM, GREEN/BATHROOM, etc,) I did have 8 or 9 boxes end up in the wrong room at the new house. Granted, some of my boxes had been used for several moves (I believe in recycling!!) And had different markings on them, but the labels were supposed to override. However, in order to be fair, I only counted boxes in the wrong room which were clearly marked with no conflicts. And 8 or 9 boxes out of as much as I had, was not a huge margin of error. I would also like to add that Rob was great about finding me and asking anytime he had a question.

The move ended up more expensive than I anticipated because I had no way to know how long it would take. It used to be that moving companies would send a sales rep out to view your home/belongings and give YOU the estimate of what it will cost, but it seems they now expect you to figure it out. Another company even expected me to tell them how many large boxes, how many medium boxes, etc in order to give me a price--which I couldn't possibly know until it was all packed. So I guess it's an industry thing now to put it on the customer. I purchased a prepaid deal for 2 trucks and 4 men for 2 hours for $350. Any additional time would be $45 per 15 minutes ($180/hour), which is not unreasonable for 4 men. And obviously I knew it would take more than 2 hours. I guess I thought they had accounted for the approximate load time, and unloading might go quicker, so I did anticipate another hour and a half to 2 hours. I 'm not unhappy with the job; they worked hard and fast to get it done ASAP. I saw no loitering! And as I said, care was taken with my possessions. So, job well done Mark, Robert, Jose, and Mario. I just wasn't expecting it to take an additional 4 hours, for an additional $720. Again, the issue is not value, just expectation from an un-informed consumer trying to estimate time/cost.

Closets questions, answered by experts

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

How many days it takes to remodel a closet will also depend on the scale of the project. Small changes like installing a prefab kit will eat up an afternoon and no more, while a total renovation could require several days to a week. If you’re planning for the latter, plan to secure other sleeping arrangements while construction is ongoing.

Costs depend on material type, size, and additional features like lighting or sliding doors.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.
