"Had to have water remediation due to a broken pipe. Water damaged the existing vapor barrier. Insurance company recommended we contact a large/national company for repair. AFS Knoxville sent a crew 2.5 hours to complete the encapsulation. Baron and Cody worked hard and did a wonderful job. AFS insured that they â kept us in the loopâ with phone calls and/or text messages. We are very happy with the encapsulation. Would definitely recommend AFS Dash Knoxville to anyone, looking to encapsulate their crawlspace/basement."

"Young man named Adrian with great work ethic. Keeps you up to date on what he is doing and does not do anything without notifying you first! Came to my home on short notice and got the job done! Also fixed a couple other issues that were discovered at a reasonable price! Call him for anything you need plumbing!"

"I called on a Friday and he was able to come that Monday. He is very straight forward and honest. He took the time to explain things and how to prevent it in the future. Our tank was located under a deck so there was extra work involved for which he did not charge for. I was very impressed with the hard work put forth and he drained not only the wastewater but the sludge. This is important because there are others who will only pull off the wastewater and not the rest, so be certain who you choose. We chose well."

"They are widely advertised on TV and elsewhere, I've seen them in the paper also. They simply wanted to overdo the job. They wanted 14,000 plus some dollars to do more than I wanted done. I didn't use them. They wanted to do a bunch of other things. It was 14,000 some dollars, which was way more than I wanted. They wanted to come inside the basement and put in a composite material that basically made it look pretty. I really didn't need that, what I needed was the pipes fixed. They wanted to do way more than I wanted done. They were fairly thorough. The guy who came out was really very thorough. He spent some time here, he really spent more time than he should have and I think he wanted the job. I live in a sort of an upscale community here and the houses all look nice and so forth. He wanted to land this job because this guy can pay big bucks and it wasn't the case. That was my take on it. I got the impression that they were fairly professional, but that was only an impression. Since they didn't do any work, you can't really tell that much from one visit by one person."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

A washing machine should drain the water used during its cycle through a drainpipe and out through the house’s plumbing. This is the same plumbing that sinks and shower drains run to, and if the U-bend is installed correctly, it shouldn’t smell. The total drainage from the house is then integrated into the city sewer system or, if you’re in the country, dispersed into a septic tank.

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in good working order. Regular maintenance can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become bigger problems, which increases the lifespan of your drain. The frequency with which a drain clogs can depend on factors like the amount of debris, the quality of the installation, and the type of filter used. If your drain accumulates a lot of sediment, it may require more frequent cleaning. It's also a good practice to check the access and exit points after heavy storms. If you notice reduced drainage or any signs of a clog, clean the drain as soon as possible.

Water leaking through your basement floor is a good sign of a clogged drain, but another sign of a clogged basement floor drain can include unpleasant odors coming from the drain. Also, hearing gurgling noises when water drains from the basement or having other plumbing fixtures (like toilets or other drains) backing up is a good indicator.
