"We hired blackwater construction to get our property ready to build our home. We messaged them for a quote and they got back to us the same day. They came out with in the week gave us a fantastic quote on all the work we needed. We had them clear our property of trees, grade our land to get it ready for the foundation, they even prepped and graveled our driveway. They did such a great job that we even hired them a few weeks later to fix our run off water issues. They were super fast, knowledgeable. They were the cleanest crew we had during the entire build. They went above and beyond to make our dreams come true."

"Overall Ethan and his staff were very professional and efficient. On our initial meeting Ethan listened to us and developed a work plan that would meet our needs. He was prompt in submitting a reasonable estimate and answered all our questions. We set a date to begin. The weather caused a delay, but Ethan was quick to notify us of the delay. Another start date was set and the work was done. We had four projects (repair ceiling in the garage, repair the main shower grout, replace floor trim, and design/build a sunroom step). We are very pleased with the final results of the work. The staff completed their tasks in a timely manner and were really nice guys. I would highly recommend Ethan Putnam and his staff at All Around Solutions LLC."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

There are several different factors that influence how long it takes to excavate. For a foundation, it could take anywhere from three days to three weeks. It can take even longer if you face weather-related delays or an inaccessible site that’s riddled with boulders and rough terrain. It may also take longer if you have clay soil, which is more difficult to dig.

It takes one hour to dig a 10-foot trench by hand. Use a trenching shovel with a sharp tip and a long head. Plan for more time if your soil is heavy or rocky. Consider renting a trencher if you’re digging a long or deep trench or if you have challenging soil or terrain.

Yes, most services include site leveling and foundation work. Confirm with your contractor for specifics.

Water lines are buried at various depths, depending on the type of line. For example, most sprinkler lines are buried between four and 12 inches underground. On the other hand, water mains usually sit between one and 3 feet below ground. However, they can go even deeper in cold climates to prevent freezing.

How deep your septic system needs to be into the ground depends on several factors. In extremely cold environments, the tank needs to rest below the maximum frost line, which can be up to six or eight feet deep. The standard burying depth for most systems is between a few inches and four feet below ground level. Depth can also depend on the slope of the landscaping and other property variables.
