"JunkRUs LLC did an excellent job of tearing down a shed in my back yard that a huge pine tree fell on. They worked quickly and efficiently to get the job done. They hauled the remains of the building and ALL the debris off. The area where the shed once stood was left perfectly clean. The owners were courteous, polite, and just good people to do business with. I highly recommend them."

"For 23 years, our three boys grew up sharing a bathroom. After all this time, the bathroom desperately needed renovation. JJ Brewer & Associates transformed a sow's ear into a silk purse. Our project included replacing the bathtub area with a full walk-in tiled shower, retiling the floor, removing a wall and replacing much of the existing wall, repainting, and replacing the cabinets and fixtures. In all, the project took about 2 months. They did a fantastic job. I would definitely hire them again for my next project. They were courteous and professional. We discussed everything, and they provided me with options that I had not thought of. If you are looking for a company for your next renovation project, I can highly recommend JJ Brewer & Associates."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The rules for trenching and excavation include setting up and following safety protocols, learning how to use tools and machines properly, and ensuring there is a safe exit for all workers. Keep heavy equipment and materials away from the edge of the hole or trench. Call the 811 dig line before starting any excavation or trenching project to ensure you don’t hit any electrical or gas lines.

While you can save some money by digging your own pool, you may end up paying more in construction equipment rental fees in the long run. You could, however, focus your DIY energies on lowering the cost of leveling your lawn for your pool or filling in surrounding landscaping after construction.

Some two-in-one tools and machines do both jobs, and those could be the right solution for smaller residential projects. However, the phrase “use the right tool for the job” definitely applies to digging. For the best results, get two separate tools for your trenching and landscape edging projects or call a pro to take care of everything for you.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.
