Customers say: True professional

"Hector and his crew were ABSOLUTELY top notch. We built a new photo studio in Nashville and needed help with a perfect curve CYC WALL. Super technical work and out of our league... these guys absolutely nailed it and our renters love the wall, as well as US! We have hired them to do work at our house as well and have more coming up with them soon. Always on time, .estimates are always fair, and really great group of hardworking people with him always. 10/10 hire these guys for any of your needs!"

"I am very happy with my kitchen backsplash that Scuba Steve did! He was very professional and did exactly what he said he would do! His work ethic is second to none. He showed up early, rather than late or not at all as is the case with so many contractors in this area. I highly recommend Steve for any project you have."

"This was for a door installation. Lowes was several months out for an install. This company had a very quick response - within the week. They even went to Lowes and picked up the door for me. They arrived on time and did an excellent job. Very personable. The lock on the door was sticking a little bit and they came out the next day and took care of it. I would definitely hire them again."

"Rob was very helpful in helping with picking out paint colors, and, letting me know how dark, or, bright they would look with the natural light on the room. He used some unused paint that he had on hand to prime coat some of the rooms, thus saving me money. They repainted when I chose a color that I later didn't like, with a minimum of eye rolling. Lol The workers cleaned up after themselves everyday. They did excellent Sheetrock repair, and, Rob is an excellent detail painter -- no taping needed!

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Beadboard is a decorative element and lacks the structural integrity of drywall. It cannot hold much weight and is not meant to be used as an insulator or moisture barrier, like drywall is. In almost all cases, beadboard is placed over an existing wall surface which, in modern days, is usually drywall, but decades ago could have been wood paneling.

Very little. One inch of water can stain walls, warp wood, and create a perfect environment for mold growth. One to two inches of water can do significant damage to drywall, insulation, and electrical systems. Anything over that is considered an extensive flood, often resulting in severe structural damage.

Drywall mudding can be done in one day if the project is small and the desired effect isn’t too complex. If you need multiple layers of mud, one day may not be realistic. But a single room that requires little more than joint compound on the seams and screws can be done in a day or two.

While you can put new drywall over old drywall, it’s not always the best option. In some cases, drywalling over drywall can make it harder to find wires and pipes behind your walls and conceal more serious problems with your walls. It can also make the room smaller. On the plus side, putting drywall over drywall can improve soundproofing and insulation. Plus, it’s often less expensive than tearing down and adding new drywall.

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.
