"It went well. The cost for a single toilet replacement was very high I felt. I’ve seen similar toilets retail for less than $200. I understand labor and removal costs - but for what amounted to about an hours worth of work, $1200 seemed a bit steep."

"As soon as we put in a request, Deborah, the office staff, called us to arrange for an estimate. They came out the very same day. Steven and another technician were curtious and quick in determining where the leak was coming from. Our crawl space was filled with water. Steven returned in a few days, made repairs and even installed a new toilet we purchased free of charge. Steven was very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. We will definately use this company for all of our future plumbing needs and repairs. The cost was very reasonable too."

Toilets FAQs, answered by experts

Toilet handles can get stuck for a couple of reasons, but it’s commonly an issue with the chain. Remove the lid and check the chain’s connection, running from the flapper to the handle arm. Sometimes the chain gets snagged on or against another part of the tank.

The chain might not have the right tension. For example, a chain that’s too short can make the handle feel stuck. Check that there’s some slack in the chain. Old, worn-out flappers can get stuck, too. In this case, you’ll need to see which size toilet flapper you need.

Costs depend on door material, labor, additional hardware, and whether structural modifications are needed.

While a toilet dripping on the outside can be caused by condensation, a toilet that is constantly dripping on the inside is usually caused by a deteriorated flapper. This is one of the most common types of toilet leaks. As the flapper degrades, it won’t seal properly, and water will constantly leak into the toilet.

Toilet seats have two mounting brackets on the back that accept mounting bolts. The bolts drop through the brackets, through two small holes on the top of your toilet, and then receive nuts to hold them in place on the bottom of the toilet. If you can’t see the bolt heads, you might need to pry up the mounting bracket cover, which is a plastic piece that hides and protects the bolts.

The main causes for a leaky toilet flapper include wear and tear or a broken or incorrectly installed toilet flapper chain. If your toilet flapper is torn or deteriorated, it can’t provide a proper seal to keep water from running. Meanwhile, a chain that has come loose, was moved, or just wasn’t installed right can prevent your flapper from fully closing.
