"Mr. Pinkston returned my call within ten minutes and was on the job within a few hours. The job was complicated. The pipe was improperly installed originally (not by Mr Pinkston). It was boxed in and passed through a block wall where the joint was leaking. Mr. Pinkston negotiated all the irregularities and created a clean, solid, professional fix. He was respectful of our home while he was here and cleaned up thoroughly. It is a pleasure to deal with someone who takes such great pride in his work. We will definitely call him again.

"I contacted Old Faithful to check out a home I was interested in purchasing that had a smelly septic tank. Before they were able to get back to me, I had a home inspection that indicated the septic tank had major issues, so I no longer needed their services. Apparently septic tank companies are in high demand in this area and are few & far between. What little contact I did have, they were professional and I would definitely recommend this company."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

The water refills in a well through gravity that draws water from the water table to fill the vertical hole. The pump brings the fresh water through a pressure tank and to the pipes in your house. The well continues to refill indefinitely as long as you don’t use more water than the well is producing.

A leaking well pipe is quite different from if the well itself is leaking. To seal a leaking well, pour a cement mixture or bentonite into the space between the well casing and the borehole wall. The heavier cement collects at the bottom to form a solid seal, pushing lighter materials like mud and fluids up toward the surface. Professional well installation companies have the equipment to do this properly.

Call a dedicated well and pump professional to install your new well pump. In some cases, plumbers may have the experience needed for the installation, but it’s always better to go with a specialized pro. Well and pump contractors have hundreds of hours of experience with all different types of wells and pumps.

Most well pump pressure switches have a factory setting of 30 to 50 PSI. There’s some flexibility with this if you’d like a lower or higher water pressure, but remember that it should sit 2 to 3 PSI above your well tank’s general pressure setting.

The inside of your pressure switch cover will usually indicate minimum and maximum settings—going below and above the numbers might damage your well pump.

Most shallow residential wells are somewhere between 25 and 50 feet deep. They are among the simplest well systems. Deeper wells usually involve drilling to a much greater depth. Water wells for household use are typically 100 to 500 feet deep, depending on local groundwater conditions. Some may be up to 1,000 feet deep or more.
