Customers say: True professional

"This is the go to tree service company in our area in my estimation, the ower & his two man crew did an outstanding job removing a dead 60 yr old Maple , the professionalism combined with their friendly personalities made me a retired senior very comfortable, the pricing is very fair & their attention to detail is excellent, they also went out of their way for full clean-up also stacking wood for me to use later , I have had experience with other tree services in the past but none impressed me like J&T tree service.....also want to give a shout-out to the tree climber who showed excellent knowledge of the job & the skill to do it right."

"The service was done exactly as promised and Alex was very responsible and very meticulous. I’d recommend him to do my tree service again. My daughter also used him to clear the trees on her new property and he did an excellent job on that project as well."

"I contacted Demetree based on a recommendation from Nextdoor. I have three stands (3 trees per stand) of River Birch that had totally taken over. Couldn’t even get grass to grow due to the way the shade spread. Demetrio and his crew showed up when they promised, worked quickly and safely, and trimmed the trees perfectly. They removed branches and a couple of the smaller trees that were dumping leaves onto the house. They kept me up to date and involved, and they made sure that I understood what they were doing an why. They also made sure that I was good with all removals. They cleaned up perfectly and did a great job for what I consider to be a fair price. I highly recommend Demetree."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Stump grinding consists of removing the visible part of the stump, but the roots remain intact. Depending on the tree and root system, the roots may still grow after stump grinding. If you are concerned about root growth and damage, you may want to consider having a stump removed completely.

Talking with a septic pro before planting trees near your tank is best to ensure the roots won’t interfere with your septic system. However, there is an easy way to figure out where to plant a tree—but you’ll need to know how tall it can get when it’s fully grown. For instance, if the tree can reach 50 feet, plant it at least 50 feet from your septic system.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

If you want to take your tree-planting hobby beyond your outdoor space, here are a few great ways to do it:

  • Encourage your neighbors to participate in the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City USA program, which has a four-step framework that helps communities grow and maintain their own tree cover.

  • Support businesses that plant trees.

  • Lobby your local government to plant more trees around your community.

  • Donate to a tree-planting charity.

Generally, no, tree topping isn’t a good technique, and you should avoid using it in most cases. Tree topping may be the only good option to save a tree following severe damage after a storm, but in most other cases, it’s not the right choice. Tree topping can leave trees vulnerable to disease and further damage, and most pros will suggest against it.
