"John & his co-worker went WAY above & beyond my expectations with everything surrounding this project. He has the heart of a teacher & really explained to me what needed to be done & what he would do.He returned to ensure the quality of his work as soon as I called and never made me feel I was an incovenience. They were GREAT with my kids and exceedingly patient with me. Not only did I hire them for this project, but I will for any future projects. He is a very trustworthy man and if at all possible I would not hire anyone else in the future."

"The contractor was very quick at contacting me and their quote was very, very reasonable. They did run in to an issue with the first pouring of my patio, but without even asking me if it was okay, they broke it up by hand and repoured it again. I was very impressed by the fact that I never had a need to check on them, as they were very diligent about getting the job done right. I would highly recommend them for anyone's concrete needs."

"Daniel and his team did a fabulous job on two patios. Daniel communicated well with us, and his team was punctual and they worked hard. The only issue we had was damage to our grass from the equipment. Daniel was apologetic and agreed that the team should have protected our grass with plywood. We were very pleased with the work, and we plan to hire Daniel in the future for other projects."

"They did a great job! I was contacted on Friday and we scheduled a consultation for the next day. After assessing the situation and discussing the price, they came back the same day (about 2 hours later to assemble the necessary equipment and team) and reshaped the yard back into civility. They even edged the shaggy neutral strip for me! The guys were wonderful! They were very professional and thorough and updated us throughout the entire process. It was especially hot that day and my backyard is riddled with mosquitoes, but they soldiered on with positive attitudes. I'm really glad I called them and have enjoyed looking at my tamed yard."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

You should not do your own welding unless you have the proper training and experience. Most home electrical systems can only handle MIG welding, which creates weaker bonds than TIG welding and won’t work on certain metals or metal thicknesses. Both welding forms usually require the use of shielding gas, which can be dangerous to store at home. Additionally, welding machines create temperatures of over 3,000 degrees, and the sparks can blind you if you don’t have the proper equipment. As such, it’s usually better to hire a professional welder for your welding projects.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

Choosing the right metal fabricator for your project begins with research. Find a reputable fabrication company by searching for reputable contractors in your area, and then reviewing photos of their previous work, customer reviews, and photos of the company’s workshop.

Once you’ve narrowed down the list, contact the companies to ask about the types of metal fabrication projects they specialize and inquire about guarantees and warranties on workmanship. You should also ensure the company uses high-quality material, and ask about the schedule and turnaround time for your proposed project.

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

It will likely take an experienced pro less than an hour to install a ground rod, which is another reason why letting them handle the job is such a good idea. Safety concerns aside, it would likely take you much longer to install a ground rod if you decided to take this one as a DIY job.
