"We used CAE Home Improvement to replace the ceiling in the kitchen and fixed the walls. The CAE team did an outstanding job. They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up, and completed the project as scheduled. Very professional and customer centric company. I would highly recommend this company for any home remodeling projects."

"We consulted Angie's list after seeing CertaPro in our neighborhood, and were responded to right away with a quote directly from the owner. We scheduled the work, and looked in on the project several times a day during the 3-day job. The workers, the quality of the painting and materials, and CertaPro's follow-up was so good that we plan to have them do similar work on our residence later this year. Their quote was competive, their workers were excellent, their responsiveness was superior to any other company we contacted."

"They did a wonderful job painting and replacing wood on the house. Worked with the gutter people to get the project done. Kept me informed each day on what was to be done. Pressure washed the house to see what needed to be replaced. I would recommend them highly. The team was very polite, knew what needed to be done and cleaned up when done."

"Painter1 did a fantastic job with our house. Kevin sent us a quote the same day he came out to visit and take a look. Very easy to work with. Hardest part of the job was deciding which color to paint the house! They showed up on a Wednesday to prep the house and were done Friday evening. Great attention to detail; no touch ups were needed and I didn?t notice any overspray anywhere. I couldn?t recommend them enough!"

"My husband and I just recently purchased a home and wanted to add our touches. We hired Alex to paint the house and paint the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Alex did an excellent job. The cabinets came out beautiful and the paint job on the house was great. He made sure that my floors and counters were protected. He was able to finish the job within the given time frame as well. I will definitely hire Alex again for future projects!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

Deciding whether to stain or paint a pool deck depends on your budget, desired look, and the deck's material. Both options can work. Paint offers a wider variety of color options, provides excellent water resistance, and can last longer. However, it requires a primer and can eventually fade or peel. Stain is often cheaper, easier to apply, and penetrates the wood for a more natural look and longer-lasting finish. It also has great water resistance. The downsides are fewer color options and the need for a sealant. The choice can also depend on the deck material; for example, staining may be a better option for concrete as it bonds well and lasts longer than paint.

There are deck restoration products and oil-based wood stains that can help bring back some of the color and shine to your faded Trex decking. However, if your boards are suffering from serious fading due to UV rays or chemical cleaning products, don’t expect miracles. Also, these products are only suitable for use on the older Trex boards, not the capped, second-generation Trex products.

A concrete overlay is often the most cost-effective way to resurface a pool deck. To do this, you’ll need to pour a thin layer of concrete over the existing pool deck, which you can customize by stamping or painting. A stamped concrete overlay provides additional traction on a pool deck that can help minimize the risk of people slipping and falling.
