I would like to compliment Doug at Classic Wildlife Control for his efforts to locate and remove Pepe le Pew, the skunk that opted to take up residence under our back porch.  I got Doug's name originally from our local TWRA office, and then double-checked his company on Angie's List.  He responded quickly to my email, and even arrived EARLY to set up the traps. 

 He was friendly and informative and, luckily, gave me instruction on how to open and reset the trap should our cat find the bait too enticing...which he did.  Like clockwork daily, he returned to check on the traps; if I was not home, he left a message on the back porch. 

Pepe was eventually caught and removed, and I will use Classic Wildlife Control again in a heartbeat should any of Pepe's extended family pay us a visit again.

Stink bugs don't build nests, but they do like to hang around out of sight. They typically hide in cracks, crevices, and tight spaces within buildings, especially during the colder months. Paw stamping, hissing, lifting their tail, and arching their back are early signs they feel trapped or under threat and that it’s time to make a careful retreat.

Carpet beetles do not bite humans, but their larvae can cause skin irritation that’s often mistaken for bites. These tiny, bristly larvae have barbed hairs that can lead to allergic reactions in sensitive individuals, resulting in red, itchy welts or rashes. While the irritation may resemble bug bites, it’s actually a response to contact with the hairs or shed skins, not an actual bite. Adult carpet beetles are harmless and primarily feed on pollen, but their larvae can damage natural fibers like wool, fur, or leather in carpets, clothing, and upholstery.

Both insects can damage wood, but there are key differences between termites and carpenter ants that tell them apart. Carpenter ants tunnel through moist wood, leaving behind smooth tunnels and sawdust-like piles, as they don't eat the wood but rather carve it for nesting. In contrast, termites actually consume wood, creating irregular galleries filled with mud and dirt, and leaving behind mud tubes as their signature. In terms of appearance, carpenter ants have segmented bodies with heart-shaped heads and larger front wings, while termites have more oval bodies with straight antennae and equal-sized wings.

A spider infestation happens when an unusually high and problematic presence of spiders occurs in a home to the point it becomes disruptive or poses a significant nuisance.
