"Andrew was quick to respond to our request for an estimate to have our attic insulated. He explained our options in a way that was easy to understand and we were able to make a well informed decision for our project. I mentioned that we had an issue with our AC system sweating and he had a very good solution for that as well. Andrew and his crew went above and beyond our expectations. When the job was completed they left a nice clean work area. NO MESS! Our home is now well insulated and the improvements he made to our Heat/AC closet were very well done. It's nice to do business with someone who takes pride in their work. That is so hard to find these days. Thank you Andrew!!!"

"Jose was awesome! It’s nice when the actual installer is able to come out give an accurate quote. Ares Insulation is owner operated, competitively priced and available to install very quickly. Jose is experienced in the field, polite and provides high-quality insulation. He is professional and takes a lot of pride in his work. If you’re looking for a company that will go above and beyond to work with you on making sure that the attic insulation is up to code, looking nice and ready for an inspection, I highly recommend Ares Insulation."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Fiberglass is considered dangerous only if your skin comes into contact with it or if you breathe in any fiberglass particles. This is because fiberglass is literally made of tiny fibers of glass that can cut your skin and your organs. While there aren’t many long-term effects, it’s still important to take all the proper safety precautions when working with fiberglass.

Roof vents help cool a house because as they allow hot air to escape, the temperature regulates inside the attic. If vents are defective or there are not as many as there should be, the attic becomes hot and stuffy. Without roof vents, air conditioning has to work harder to maintain a consistent temperature in the attic.

Insulating windows without plastic is usually the better method. Outside of simply replacing your windows, you could buy cellular shades, which trap air between the window and the home, add a window film that blocks UV rays and traps heat, or cover your windows with a low-emissivity coating called “low-E.”

In some cases, yes, insulating an unheated garage can lead to mold and mildew. The issue with insulating a garage is that the interior will warm up and cool down more slowly than the exterior air, which can cause condensation inside the space. Where there is moisture, there is likely to be mold and mildew over time. Installing a vapor barrier can help avoid moisture and mildew problems in an insulated garage.

Closed-cell spray foam insulation itself serves as a vapor barrier (or vapor retarder). However, you may need to install a vapor barrier if you have open-cell spray foam insulation. When in doubt, work with a professional insulation contractor, as they can provide more detail about the specific needs of your home in your climate.
