"Jose was awesome! It’s nice when the actual installer is able to come out give an accurate quote. Ares Insulation is owner operated, competitively priced and available to install very quickly. Jose is experienced in the field, polite and provides high-quality insulation. He is professional and takes a lot of pride in his work. If you’re looking for a company that will go above and beyond to work with you on making sure that the attic insulation is up to code, looking nice and ready for an inspection, I highly recommend Ares Insulation."

"We had insulation blown in our attic and our AC/Heat vent ducts cleaned. It was a great buying experience. Gary Hamra and Cameron performed the work and we felt like they really cared about us as a customer and took great care and pride in the services they provided us."

Small jobs welcome

"Attic door and ladder was broken when they left (I may have to replace at considerable expense) and they didn?t tell me. Didn?t clean up well. Pieces of insulation left in the drive. And attic wasn?t vacuumed when they left. They were friendly and worked hard while they were here. This was a difficult and dirty job and so I?m giving some stars for value. They may have underestimated the job they were here longer than I expected."

"It went great.  Provider came out, removed old unit without difficulty, installed new unit without difficulty, installed new thermostat, and we have a new unit with a great warranty.  We liked the service we were provided, they were professional in their work, and would definitely would recommend to others.

"Rep. checked entire system. He found several wires not connected properly and fixed this. He also made recommendations regarding the attachment of the panels to the rood that would provide more stability and leakproofing. The representative appeared to know what he was doing - much better than others, including the representative who was engaged by the roofer (who replaced our rood due to hail damage) to disconnect/connect the panels."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Polyisocyanurate foam, or polyiso for short, has the highest R-value per square inch: 6.5 to 6.8. Polyiso is a rigid foam that comes with a reflective foil on both sides to serve as a radiant barrier. Given its high R-value, rigid foam is usually meant for foundations and basement walls.

Structural insulated panels and rigid foam boards have the highest R-value of any insulation that contractors commonly use, with R-values reaching up to around 8.0. These types of insulation are best in extremely cold climates, but they’re generally preferred for new construction, as they can be challenging to retrofit. Blown-in and loose fill insulation provide the next best insulative value, provided the installation is done properly. It’s important to choose an insulation type that meets your needs based on climate, as maximizing R-value may not always be financially worthwhile if you live in a moderate climate.

The cost to install a radiant barrier ranges from $700 to $2,800, depending on the size of your roof and the type you choose. Most people pay an average of $1,700 to install a radiant barrier. Foil options, both single- and double-sided, cost between $0.10 and $0.90 per square foot, while spray-on options start at $0.60 and go all the way up to $1 per square foot—which can add up quickly.

Your home's location, budget, and the type of insulation you’re using are just a few of the factors that can help you choose the right insulation. For example, blown-in insulation is typically used in attic spaces, while batts and rolls are ideal for floors and walls. Blown-in insulation is usually a good option if you're adding more insulation to an area that already has some, but not enough.

According to a report from Energy.gov, radiant barrier installations can save between 5% and 10% on your energy bill each month that your HVAC cooling is in operation. That fact can mean savings of up to more than $325 per year for homes that experience frequent direct sunlight and high summer temperatures.
