"Crawlspace Medic - Augusta recently worked on our crawlspace. We were having moisture and water issues, a moisture barrier we previously put in had almost disintegrated, and originally-installed insulation was falling down. Kevin did a thorough inspection and gave me a comprehensive estimate, and his crew arrived timely and went right to work. They constructed a French drain within the crawlspace to drain off any water that would collect under the house, installed new insulation between all floor joists in the crawlspace, and installed a new, white 10-mil vapor barrier throughout the crawlspace. They taped over the seams and spiked the vapor barrier. We had previously installed an exhaust fan. They cleaned up the debris, and the crawlspace looks better than it ever has since we built our home in 1996. They worked continuously and did an excellent job. Tanner was very conscientious and came back to finish up. We are very pleased with the work they did on our home and feel so much better and secure about our crawlspace."

While the law varies from county to county, most do require that a gas shut-off valve be installed in any newly constructed homes or be present whenever a home is sold, or there is a transfer of title. The valve you install must be on an approved city list—these models satisfy the regulations and requirements set by your local jurisdiction.

You can try several easy methods to unclog a drain, one of the easiest and most effective of which is to use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. This will help dislodge and dissolve the clog to move it down the drain pipes. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda into the drain, followed by 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Dump several cups of boiling water (or hot water if you have PVC pipes) into the drain and let sit for up to one hour. Run hot water to clear the drain.

A handyperson with basic plumbing experience can install a bathroom faucet, like the kind of skills you’d need to replace a P-trap or swap out a showerhead. They may not have deep knowledge of local plumbing code, though. If your faucet installation requires work on the pipes behind the wall or under the floor, hire a licensed plumber with the necessary training and licensing. 

Homeowners insurance may cover shower pan leaks, but it depends on the type of coverage you’re looking for. Typically, home insurance policies cover sudden or accidental water damage, for example, if it comes from a busted pipe or malfunctioning appliance. Damage to a shower pan is usually gradual.
